Thoughts on volume 14:
SYR – Chris Duncan; Stick a fork in him. Severino could be an effective LH specialist, if he could get his BB rate down (3.91/9).
HAR – If Marrero can keep his K rate down for the rest of 2010, his gap power could interest some people. Detwiler should slip on the promotion list if he can’t turn those numbers around.
POT – Just wondering how much longer they’ll keep JZimm in POT.
HAG – Those numbers on Cuevas are very interesting (or wierd), since he’s a RH hitter.
VT – Garber seems to be pushing the right buttons, so far.
GCL & DSL – Kinda got lost in the shuffle recently for me, other than the DSL team doesn’t look like they have a hitter beyond the 24yo Alvarez.
GBI is always a challenge for Syracuse — not much of any of those, just a whole lot of “meh”
Re: Marrero — What I can’t see from a box score is whether or not his opposite-field power has returned.
The value in doing the N&N is seeing the names that keep recurring. Randolph Oduber is not long for the level (GCL), IMO. Adrian Sanchez and Jeremy Mayo are another two names to watch.
At DSL, the Valdezes — Jean Carlos and Bienvenido — are frequent “Hitting Stars.” I avoid listing “Smiley” at all costs because he’s like the 6’5″ kid in middle school basketball.
