Roster moves: RHP Andrew Lee assigned from Hagerstown for MiLB rehab.
I’m pretty sure this hasn’t happened since the shortened season leagues began: we won every game at each level (even the DSL too).
Considering we’re in last place everywhere except Hagerstown and GCL, that’s quite an impressive feat!
Also, it’s good to see Andrew Lee back.
I’m also pleasantly surprised with some aggressive promotions. Tim Collins has made his way up to Potomac already, and Brigham Hill is the first 2017 draftee to make it to Hagerstown.
Every team won EXCEPT the big club!
GREAT to see Andrew Lee pitching again after his second TJ last summer. This was a guy good enough to make it all the way to Hagerstown the summer he was drafted, and by some reports was looking better there at that time than Fedde was. Good to see Brigham Hill earn that first Hagerstown promotion this year.
Also, kudos to Daniel Johnson for his 20th homer of the season. Other than Skole, I can’t even remember the last Nat farmhand to hit that mark. I guess it was probably Taylor. Anyway, 20-homer years on the Nat farm are (too) few and far between.
Maybe Souza?
Anyone see where BA ranked the Nats system after the trading deadline?
Close — last guy to lead the Nats minors besides Skole (who led in ’16, ’15, and ’12) was Kevin Keyes’s 24HR in ’14, one better than Taylor’s 23HR. In between, Zach Walters with 29HR in ’13.
Ah yes, the great Zach Walters, who was going to be Desi’s replacement. Of those who reached the 20-HR mark since 2012, only Taylor is still with the organization.
Has anyone else topped 30 besides T-Mo? He had 31 in 2010 and 2011. It’s hard to see Johnson making 30 with just a month of the season to go. Gushue should make 20, although he has really cooled off after the first few weeks of the season.
Mr Rizzo Mark this 3b name down : E Montereo. GCL Cards 14-11 over Nats and game not over
Did Noll getting replaced by Beckwith in game vs WS mean- a breather , an injury or even more cool , promotion to Potomac with Boggetto coming up?
Sterling Sharp is going to Potomac, but not clear where Tim Collins is headed next (“Extended Spring Training” per MiLB.com but I think the intern got it wrong).
SS has pitched better than his numbers .
Would love to see Suns bullpen
Become real lock down group
Even more
Bautista hasn’t played since 5/23. Why hasn’t he been moved to the 60-day DL to clear a 40-man spot?
As long as Cordero was on the 40 man, there was room on the 40 man.
Related, glad to see Skole be a free agent. Go for it!
In GCL now
Just ran across this nice write up of Taylor Gushue

Good trade , Rizzo.
Hags could use Boggetto in line up
Esthay is a nightly showing in
Box score but Meregildo hammering his 6 th HR tonight
Raised my eyebrows just now
Ricardo Mendez the CF for the GCL Nats that went 3-4 with 2 SBs yesterday was born in 2000!
He is from Venezuela, but if he was a U.S. HS player, he would be heading into his senior (and possibly his junior year in HS). Pretty impressive to be holding his own against much older players.
He must be fast Luke to do all that and launder 25 uniforms post game then fold them. Ricky Henderson has nothing on him. The kid deserves a Sam Adams summer edition !!
Unlike some fans here. I get into some of the kids toiling in DSL and GCL: Falcon Evangelista and Pena
Old expo fan laughs at Marlins.
Loria would love to see Stanton traded so he can get his$$$ for art exhibits . What a clown
Mendez (1/24/00) is not the only “millennial” on the GCL Nats roster. Israel Pineda (4/3/00), Luis Garcia (5/16/00) and Jose Sanchez (7/12/00) were also born this century while Yasel Antuna (10/26/99) is the old man of the group.
The 21st century began January 1, 2001. These are some of the first born in the 2000’s but also among the last born in the 20th century.
You just ruined everybody’s narrative!
nah, just change it to “when the odometer flipped,” then weep when you realize that most of these kids don’t know what that means 🙁
You mean we fretted about Y2K for nuttin’?! That seems so long ago . . . back in the days of dial-up modems!
Would be cool to see this promotion chain reaction happen : DJ joins Robles in Burg , Perkins heads to Potomac , Fresno State kids heads to Hagerstown . Agustin could see Potomac again this season ( Ah-gust-in? Or August-een) last trip to hags the announcer announced August -teen.
