Derek Norris Activated From DL
Peacock and Mayo returned to previous assignments
The Harrisburg Senators have announced that Derek Norris has been activated from the 7-Day DL, with Brian Peacock returned to Potomac. Consequently, Jeremy Mayo has been returned to the GCL Nationals Roster, a.k.a. Extended Spring Training (XST).
Brian Peacock appeared in three games for Harrisburg, batting .286 (2-for-7) with a double and an RBI. Jeremy Mayo appeared in two games for Potomac, drawing two walks, scoring one run, but going hitless in four at-bats with three strikeouts.
As mentioned in the notes yesterday, over the weekend the Potomac Nationals also placed SS Rick Hague on the 7-Day DL, recalling Jose Lozada from XST.
What do you think of Starling Marte out of Pittsburgh’s AA affiliate. As the Nats need RH outfield help, I can only think of Destin Hood and Eury Perez who aren’t close to ready unless anyone thinks a promotion to Harrisburg is a possibility this year.
I haven’t seen Marte, but I somehow doubt he’d be available in a trade. I wouldn’t make any inferences on any prospects on such small sample sizes. Nevertheless, Hood has been better than I expected, and Perez has been worse. That could flip in a month, or even a week. Unfortunately, the next scheduled game isn’t until May 2, thanks to the need-copper-wire?-drop-a-penny-between-the-PWC-board-of-supervisors job was done on the Pfitz in the offseason.
The next game at Art’s House of Horror will most likely not be played until May 13th, as the PNats are trying to switch the May 2-3-4 series with Myrtle Beach for the June 23-24-25 series.
Dude: The stadium is owned by Prince William County, not by Silber, the Lerners, or any privately held group. Any modifications or improvements to the property have to receive approval from the County Board of Supervisors prior to implementation, regardless of who pays for said modifications.
It’s not the most attractive ballpark in the world, but it has hosted three of the last four Carolina League champions. I just hope that the interested parties (MiLB, the County, the P-Nats, and possibly the Lerners) can come to a quick decision on what needs to be done & get it taken care of in the next 2-1/2 weeks. I just want to watch baseball, not b!tch about what a franchise holder is or isn’t doing to make things better.
Dude? What are you 15. Art Silber has been talking about building a stadium for the past 15 years and has yet to put a shovel in the ground. Its funny how he he can afford to fly himself up from Florida on the team dime, puts himself up at the Ritz and rent a Lincoln also at team expense under the pretense of holding meetings on the new stadium which as long as he is the owner will never ever happen. Also why would the Lerners step into this situation or did you forget that they didn’t pay for their stadium either. Potomac has won 2 of the last three Carolina League Championships not 2 out of the last 4, so before you put in in writing get you facts straight. Dude!
BinM, I’ll defend your honor here.
Bill, I found your description the other day about the PNats owner laugh out loud funny. But it’s obvious that in your need to spew venom you showed a true lack of any knowledge of history.
In the early 1880’s the Governor of New York was Grover Cleveland, a very wide man, and the leader of the Republicans was Teddy Roosevelt. They were known as the Fat Man & the Dude!
Just because you used the term when you were 14 does not make it unusable by adults.
Thanks for your thoughts. I think Starling Marte was #102 on Baseball America’s Top150 and he is getting good press except his power numbers aren’t strong.
Still hoping Destin Hood can keep improving and move up as he just turned 21 and Eury Perez has to get more consistent at the plate.
So the catching alignments are reset. Brian Peacock at least held his own in HAR, and I liked what little I saw of Mayo in Potomac on defense; hope he gets a look in HAG before the season is over.
Barring another injury, I’d guess that the next system ripple might come from Rodriguez, who the Nationals will have to squeeze into what looks like a fairly solid bullpen over the next couple of weeks.
Mark L. – Thanks for the assist. I’ve been a little suprised by the amount of bitterness shown by one or two posters toward the P-Nats ownership of late. I guess there are some lingering issues that I’ll try to sidestep in the future.
Whenever I see that much venom, the first thing I think is “I bet they don’t have kids”.
Had many of the same feelings toward the former Governor of Baltimore, recently deceased William Donald Schaefer. But for almost the opposite reason … he built really high-end, taj mahal stadiums on my (Mont. Co. taxpayers) dime! For Baltimore!!! For two teams originally known as the “Browns” …
