Taylor Hill gave up the obligatory solo HR in the 2nd and then settled in as Syracuse took the opener, 5-1. Hill won his 5th game while going six innings, with the one run allowed on four hits and a walk while striking out four. Christopher Bostick and Matt Skole both drove in two as the Chiefs made the most of their limited chances to score five times on four hits and two walks, with a little “help” from two Bison errors.

Buffalo 4 Syracuse 0 – GAME TWO

The Bison got the last Laffey as they dropped four runs on the Chiefs’ spot starter in his five innings of work to take the nightcap, 4-0. Zach Collier and Michael Taylor combined for four of the eight Syracuse hits.

Harrisburg 4 Binghamton 2 – GAME ONE

Harrisburg got three in the 1st and one in the 5th as they doubled up Binghamton in the opener, 4-2. Starter Mike Brady was the architect of six innings of two-run ball on seven hits and a walk to get his third win while Andrew Robinson worked around a single in the 7th for the save, his fifth. Brady, Drew Ward, and Andrew Stevenson each had two hits in the Sens’ nine-hit attack.

Binghamton 3 Harrisburg 2 (10 inn.) – GAME TWO

It took 10 innings to decide the second game, which saw the B-Mets walk off with a 3-2 victory to split the twinbill. John Simms got the spot start for the Sens and let in two runs over four innings on four hits and three walks. He struck out six. Justin DeFratus took the loss as Binghamton converted a hit batsman to lead off the 10th into the gamewinner with a sacrifice and a two-out single. Four of the six Harrisburg hits went for doubles, including Drew Ward, who also walked and was the sole batter to reach base twice for the visitors.

Potomac 5 Lynchburg 2 – GAME ONE

Potomac exploded for four in the 7th to take the opener, 5-2. Austin Davidson homered to tie it at 2-2 while the Matts Reistetter and Page both singled with runners in scoring position to drive in three more. Justin Thomas was the winner in relief while Gilberto Mendez struck out two in the bottom of the 7th to earn his seventh save. Austen Williams got yet another no-decision with two runs allowed over the first five innings on three hits and three walks.

Lynchburg 9 Potomac 2 – GAME TWO

The Hillcats scratched Matt Spann and the P-Nats for three in the 1st and cruised to a 9-2 win to split the doubleheader. Spann was charged with seven runs total on eight hits and five walks over three and 2/3rds innings for his second loss. Max “For Those About To” Schrock scored the first Potomac run on a wild pitch in the 3rd while Dale Carey got the second with his seventh HR, a solo shot to lead off the 4th.

Hagerstown 6 West Virginia 2

Hagerstown got three in the 3rd and six solid innings from Joan Baez as they tripled up West Virginia, 6-2. Baez gave up just one run on five hits, walked none, and fanned eight as he snapped a three-game string of no-decisions. Jake Noll singled, doubled, scored twice, and drove in two to lead the Suns offense.

The Yankees broke up the Star Trek convention on the scoreboard with two runs against the Doubledays in the bottom of the 8th as they took the series finale, 2-0, and the series, 2-1. Tyler Watson got his fifth no-decision with five scoreless innings and two hits and two walks allowed. The loss went to Kyle Simonds as the home team got to him for both runs on three hits and a walk in his single inning of work. Auburn matched Staten Island’s six hits and three walks but were thrown out on all three stolen-base attempts (versus twice) and grounded into a double play (versus none).
