Steven Lerud drove in all four runs while Taylor Hill turned in a season-high eight-plus innings as the Chiefs took the game, 4-1 and the series, 3-1. Lerud posted his third straight multihit game as he went 3-for-4, including a two-run HR in the 7th to break open a 1-0 game. Hill pitched into the 9th but hit a batter and gave up a single before giving way to Rafael Martin, who lost the shutout but got the save, as he did not allow a run for just the second time in six appearances since his return from Washington.

The Thunder struck for four runs in the 1st and cruised to a 5-2 win over the Senators. Starter Paolo Espino turned in four shutout innnings afterwards, but the damage had been done as he gave four runs on six hits and three walks to suffer his third loss of the season. Erik Davis continued his rehab tour with a shutout inning of relief. Wilmer Difo singled and doubled while Tony Renda walked and doubled, but Harrisburg’s inability to convert baserunners into runs continued as they left on 12 and were just 2-for-10 with RISP.
Roster move: RHP Erik Davis assigned from Washington for MLB rehab.

Facing the Carolina League’s weakest offense instead of its strongest, Lucas Giolito struck out a career-high 11 batters over six innings, walking one and letting in one run. He threw 84 pitches, 63 for strikes. That should have been good enough to win, but the P-Nats were unable to score a single run as they were shut out for the third time in 34 games, 1-0 by the Blue Rocks. Narciso Mesa singled, doubled, and walked to lead the Potomac offense, which collected seven hits and no walks on the night.

Jefry Rodriguez pitched into the 5th for the first time, but lost for the third time as the Suns were shut out, 3-0. Rodriguez let in all three Power runs on six hits and three walks over four and 2/3rds innings. He left with the bases loaded, but Brett Mooneyham was able to strand all three and closed out the game with two more scoreless innings. Hagerstown managed just four hits — all singles — and no walks.

Hagerstown 3 West Virginia 0 — GAME TWO

Hagerstown scored twice in the 1st and once in the 3rd as they returned the favor with a 3-0 shutout of West Virginia. Connor Bach and Justin Amlung combined on the three-hit shutout, with Bach walking two and striking out six over five and 1/3rd innings to earn the win, and Amlung stranding two in the 6th and working around a hit batsman in the 7th to notch the save. Tablesetters Alec Keller and Matt Reistetter combined to go 4-for-5 with three runs scored, two doubles, a triple (Reistetter) and two RBI (ditto).

Trea Turner Update
Turner was 1-for-2 in a rain-shortened 2-0 Missions loss. His on-base streak is now at 14 games.
