Three RailRiders pitchers combined on a five-hit shutout of the Chiefs, 6-0. Syracuse starter (and losing pitcher) Bruce Billings was touched for single runs in three of five innings pitched, allowing five hits and two walks total. Jason Martinson (2-for-4) and Ian Stewart (1-for-3) were the only Syracuse batters to reach base twice. Tony Gwynn Jr. was the only Chiefs baserunner to make it to third base, which he did by himself with a two-out triple in the 8th.

Pedro Severino’s two-run single in the top of the 9th snapped a 5-5 tie and this time the Harrisburg bullpen held the lead for a 7-5 win vs. Binghamton. Matt Swynenberg started but was roughed up for four runs on eight hits over five innings. The win went to Gilberto Mendez, who blanked the B-Mets for two innings. Severino (2-for-3) and Ricky Hague (2-for-5) both notched three RBI as the Senators tallied 13 hits and drew seven walks but still struggled with RISP (3-for-16).

It was six runs in the 9th last night as the P-Nats continue to their pwnage of the Hillcats with a 15-8 smackdown for their fourth straight win. Wilmer Difo led the 17-hit barrage with a 5-for-6 night, punctuated by a grand slam in the 9th for five RBI and nine total bases — 11 if you want to count his two thefts of second. Wander Suero got the Jack Morris win with seven runs allowed (five earned) on nine hits over five innings. Jake Johansen closed out the game with four strong innings for his first career save while striking out eight.

Raudy Read’s two-run shot in the 4th snapped a 1-1 tie as Hagerstown held off a late charge from Lakewood for a 6-4 win. Drew Van Orden turned in six innings of one-run ball, giving up three walks and four hits while striking out five to earn the win. Read, “Orange” Marmolejos-Diaz, and Alec Keller each had a pair of hits as the Suns racked up nine hits and four walks total on the night.
As surmised earlier this week, Wednesday’s suspended game between West Virginia and Hagerstown will be resumed on April 28th at 5:05 p.m. as part of a completion doubleheader with both games scheduled for seven innings.

Turner went 2-for-4 with a walk to push his BA above .300 (.303) and extend his hit streak to six games.
