Syracuse 9 Charlotte 3
• Laffey (W, 12-4) 5IP, 5H, 3R, 3ER, BB, 4K, HR
• Perez 2-2, RBI, SB
• Laird 3-4, 3R, 2-2B, HR, 4RBI
• Moore 2-3, 2-2B, 2RBI
Turnabout is fair play as the Chiefs laid a 9-3 hurt in a rain-shortened five innings. Aaron Laffey got the complete-game win with a pedestrian three runs allowed over five innings on five hits and a walk. Brandon Laird doubled twice and got the scoring going with a two-run jack in the 1st, going 3-for-4 with four RBI on night. Syracuse scored in each of the first four innings before the game was called with two outs in the bottom of the 5th.
Harrisburg — Postponed
Rain spoiled the first of three games between Harrisburg and Reading yesterday afternoon, forcing a doubleheader tonight.
Potomac — Postponed
As feared, rain postponed a fourth straight date between the Red Sox and P-Nats, reducing this week’s five-game series to a pair of doubleheaders today and tomorrow.
Hagerstown vs. Delmarva — PPD
The 26th and 27th meeting between Delmarva and Hagerstown will take place tonight, thanks to the Sally League’s god-awful scheduling the rain. Tomorrow, Suns go up the coast to Jersey for Game nos. 20-23 of 27 against the BlueClaws.
In a story that should shock nobody here, the City of Fredericksburg says its **proposed** stadium project is in jeopardy
Auburn vs. Jamestown — PPD
Rain. Bad. No game. Play two today.

GCL Mets 4 GCL Nationals 1
• Yrizarri (L, 2-2) 5IP, 4H, 4R, 4ER, 5BB, 0K
• Reynoso 2IP, 2H, 0R, 0BB, 0K
• G. Ramirez 2-3, R, BB, SB
• Lora 2-4, RBI
The G-Mets put up four in the 3rd and held off the G-Nats for a 4-1 win. Deibi Yrizarri gave up all four runs on four hits and five walks with no strikeouts over five while losing his second game. Three of the free passes came in the 3rd and all three scored. Gilberto Ramirez singled twice, walked once, and scored the lone G-Nat run in the top of the 7th. Edwin Lora and Oliver Ortiz both went 2-for-4 as the G-Nats managed seven hits (all singles) total.
DSL Rockies 4 DSL Nationals 3 (11 inn.)
• Acevedo 5IP, 3H, 1R, 0ER, 0BB, 3K, WP
• Rosario (BS, 2) 3IP, 3H, R, ER, BB, 2K
• Guance (BS, 1; L, 0-1) 2⅔ IP, 3H, 2R, 2ER, 0BB, K
• Rengel 3-6, R, 2B, HR, 3RBI
• A. Martinez 3-5
• Vilorio 3-4, 2-2B, BB, CS
The D-Nats ‘pen couldn’t hold a 3-2, givng up the equalizer in the 9th and the game-winner in the 11th for a 4-3 loss to the D-Rockies. Carlos Acevedo let in an unearned run over five innings of three-hit ball with no walks and three K’s and left with a 2-1 lead. Ramses Rosario allowed the D-Rox to tie it at 2-2 in his first inning of relief as did Hector Guance, who got the blown-save-loss for his efforts. Luis Rengel drove in all three runs including an 8th-inning solo shot that gave the D-Nats a 3-2 lead.
As much as it sucks for Hagerstown to lost their team, I’m really hoping Fredrickburg happens. That would give me the chace to see both of our Class A squads on a regular basis (Fredicksburg is half the drive Hagerstown is for me and I have a good buddy who lives down there).
Frankly, it would be better for the fans I feel if Potomac moved to Fredericksburg since it appears there will never be a good stadium deal under the present ownership. Luke, correct me if I’m wrong, but Pfitzner is not an acceptable stadium. Nats fans deserve better. Hagerstown, on the other hand, is broke. For-profit prisons are a big business there. They need every economic engine that they can get and the Nats help provide that. As a DC resident, it’s pretty much a push distance wise to drive to either one.I feel that Hagerstown needs the Suns a lot more than Fredericksburg, a growing economic town that’s simultaneously an exurb of both Richmond and DC.
SD, how great was it to watch Michael Taylor last night. Gave me goose bumps! I can’t remember the last time it felt so great to be Nats minor league seamhead.
You guys at the Pfitz saw him for 2 years.
Bummer news on Fredericksburg.
Does everybody agree that Hagerstown
Could house low A club until another
Suburban market gets its ducks in a row?
Luke. You will be busy tomorrow morning
If Mother Nature does not rain on the DH
Parade
Another good outing for Luis Torres @ GCL
Problem if Hagerstown moves is that it’s going to be tough to get another team in there because the Orioles affiliate Frederick Keys will claim that Hagerstown’s too close, correct? Hagerstown Suns have to stay if there’s going to be organized MLB-affiliate baseball there. They need a full season team. They need to improve the stadium. There’s no money to improve the stadium because Hagerstown is broke and the demographics are not favorable to minor league baseball. I’ve been seriously contemplating driving out there to talk to ownership and catch a Giolito start, but I imagine that ownership wants out of Hagerstown because there are more profitable options elsewhere. That means I’d need to talk to stakeholders and politicians. Well, I’d be a carpetbagger if I did that so I’m going to focus my energies on more productive projects. I seriously flirted with doing some activism in the Hagerstown area during the Democratic Primaries in Maryland, but I didn’t make it past Frederick. Thankfully, I assessed the race to realize that would be a waste of my time and focused my energies on Prince George’s County. I’ve got family there so that’s never a waste of my time. Got family everywhere now that I think about it!
Luke, my first reaction to you placing
Voth on DL for sens on big board is that
He has been shutdown ?? No injury?
What a return for investment on a knee jerk
Reaction signing laffey to fill in for Rosenbaum .
12-4. He and Laird have been big chiefs.
