Tyler Moore’s 8th-inning HR tied it and Sandy Leon’s 11th-inning big fly ended it as the Chiefs edged the Bisons, 5-4 and took a 2-1 series lead. Starter Zach Kroenke went the first four innings, allowing two runs on two hits and three walks while striking out two. The win went to Mike Gonzalez as he turned in 1-2-3 eleventh inning following two scoreless innings from Daniel Stange. Josh Johnson (3-for-4), Moore (3-for-5), and Leon combined for eight of the 11 Chiefs hits on the night.

• Vettleson 3-5, R, 2RBI
• Hague 2-5, 2B, RBI

Harrisburg dropped the opener of this four-game series with an agonizing four-walk inning in the 12th that led to the margin of victory in a 6-4 loss to Richmond. The Senators had leads of 2-0, 3-2, and 4-2 before Richmond tied it at 4-4 in the 6th against starter Brian Dupra, who was charged with four runs (two earned) on two hits and two walks while striking out three over five and 2/3rds innings. Derek Self took the loss with two runs on two hits over two innings, and all four walks issued in the 12th. Drew Vettleson led the Sens offense with a 3-for-5 night, followed by Ricky Hague’s 2-for-5 effort.
Roster move: C Cole Leonida reassigned from Potomac; C Mitch Canham placed on 7-Day DL; OF Bryce Harper removed from roster, end of MLB rehab assignment.

• Renda 3-5, 2R, RBI, SB
• Perez 2-4, R, 2B, BB, RBI

Former Nats farmhand Mike Burgess homered in the top of the 9th to spoil a comeback from a 9-0 deficit as the Keys edged the P-Nats, 10-9 to take the series, 2-1. Blake Schwartz was hammered for six runs on three hits and three walks as he retired just two of eight batters faced. Kylin Turnbull, just off the DL, wasn’t any more effective as Frederick riddled him for seven hits over two and 1/3rd innings. The P-Nats scored in five straight innings beginning in the 3rd, while Chris Manno stopped the bleeding with three scoreless, and Travis Henke added two more before Burgess led off the 9th with his 13th homer. Estarlin Martinez and Tony Renda both went 3-for-5 to lead Potomac’s 13-hit, seven-walk attack.
Roster moves: LHP Kylin Turnbull activated from 7-Day DL; C Craig Manuel reassigned from Hagerstown.

• Kieboom 2-4, R, 2B, 3RBI
• Mesa, 2-4, R
• Ballou 1-3, 2R, BB

The Shorebirds put up three-spots in the 1st and 3rd innings to take a 6-0 lead and cruised to a 9-5 win for 2-2 series split. Spot starter Andrew Cooper was charged with the loss as Delmarva got to him for six runs on eight hits and a walk over four innings. Wander Suero turned in three scoreless and hitless innings before Creede Simpson left the band park and went solo in the 8th. The Suns notched nine hits for the night, with Spencer Kieboom leading the way with a single, double, and three RBI while going 2-for-4.
Roster moves: C Austin Chubb reassigned from Auburn; RHP Wander Suero reassigned from Potomac.

Auburn — OFF DAY
The Doubledays enjoyed their first scheduled off day — one of just four, not including the All-Star game — and enter July with a 7-9 record, the same mark as they had a year ago after 16 games.
Roster moves: LHP David Ramos reassigned from Hagerstown; C Kyle Bacak reassigned from the GCL Nationals.

GCL Nationals 3 GCL Mets 2
• A. Williams 2⅔ IP, 2H, R, ER, BB, K
• Torres (W, 1-0) 4⅓ IP, 5H, R, ER, 0BB, 3K, 1-0 IR-S
• Guzman 2-3, R
• Ortiz 1-4, 2RBI

After losing a 2-1 lead in the top of the 7th, the G-Nats got the run back with the “help” of balk as they edged the G-Mets, 3-2. Austen Williams got the start and let in a run on two hits and a walks over two and 2/3rds innings. Luis Torres stranded a runner in the 3rd and allowed one run on five hits over the next four innings and was credited with the win. Maximo Valerio pitched a scoreless 8th for the hold while John Feliz shut the door in the 9th for the save. Luis Guzman singled twice and scored a run and was the sole G-Nat to have multiple hits as the offense was limited to four hits and four walks.
Roster moves: RHPs Luis Reyes, Deibi Yrizarri reassigned from Auburn.

DSL Rockies 4 DSL Nationals 3
• Baez 5⅔ IP, 6H, 2R, ER, 2BB, 4K
• Charlis 3IP, 0H, 0R, 0BB, 2K
• N. Ramirez (L, 2-2) 2⅔ IP, 2H, R, ER, 2BB, 3K
• A. Franco 3-6
• Vilorio 2-5, SB

The D-Rockies outlasted the D-Nats to take a five-hour, 14-inning marathon by a 4-3 score. Nector Ramirez took the loss, issuing the deadly leadoff walk that led to a sacrifice and a two-out single for the game-winner. Starter Joan Baez went the first five and 2/3rds and let in two runs (one earned) on six hits and two walks while striking out four. Andres Franco and Luis Vilorio combined for five of the 11 D-Nats hits, as they drew just five walks but also struck out just seven times.

So basically Burgess is Organizational Depth for Frederick these days? Man, I don’t know if I’d be doing that if I were his age. Not a fun life. Glad that The rZo likely had little role in his signing. Imagine how far we’d be now if we had a real GM picking the groceries from the store from the beginning.

You mean Bowden mixed with the bud Selig
Edicted bartelo colon deal 2002 on Minaya ??
Nats did well letting burgess go .

According to the WaPo chroniclers of things Nationals in order for Rizzo to be allowed to draft Jordan Zimmermann as high as he did Rizzo the draft meister had to agree to draft Bowden’s ex-Reds cronies favorite: Burgess. Burgess wasn’t Rizzo’s idea.

Good for Cole Leonida. His last chance in farm??

As much as I like Leonida, this looks like a game of musical backup catchers that was predicated by the move of Bacak up from the GCL to Auburn. Had Canham or Jeroloman been released I might feel differently, but when three backups are moved up on the same day, it’s hard to call any of the moves a promotion.

Is it because of Pedro Severino?

Friends long time Nats fan, I attend about 40-50 Pnat games. About 3 years ago I was looking forward to see Chris Manno Pitch, I am an Old time left pitcher, and I follow all of our affiliates. When Manno was traded I felt cheated. Well Manno is back and if this makes me a minion so be it. But seriously as a old time college player and semi pro player, I appreciate guys like Chris. Last night was my first time seeing him and it was a treat. In the current days of seeing guys throw 95 plus(which is a good thing) I watched a young man pitch yesterday rather then throw. To me its a huge difference, Manno does not throw 90+ in fact the scouts had him at 87-91. But friends he throws in and out . He has a plus change up and his curve ball has bite. He also drops down and throws a slide and fastball from that angle. I was at the game and I just wanted to tell you about this outing . I aso had the pleasure of meeting him after the game. What a wonderful articulate young man, that makes you feel important. Thank you Chris I appreciate you

Hmmm Brock Peterson traded to Stan and the Dodgers for cash considerations? He hasn’t been getting much playing time since Tyler Moore got sent back to the ‘Cuse. Moore has performed extremely well and is the 2nd best pure hitter after Souza for the Chiefs. Perhaps the drastically reduced role for Brock caused Riz (at Billy G’s behest) to find a new home for him?
