Luke sent us ththis link a few weeks ago, but I’ll give again. http://www.auburnpub.com/sports/doubledays Auburn is a very small town whose main employer is a maximum security prison (!!!). With all that, their coverage of the Doubledays is pretty comprehensive, remarkable in this day and age of newspaper retrenchment.
I found a lot of good stuff here, including an explanation of the players who released, along with their stats from this year and last.

I’ll add to the above: the Chief’s have become a juggernaut. It sure looks like they’ll be headed to the playoffs for the first time in 16 years with the best record in the IL. Beyond the obvious of having the best hitter in the IL in Souza. Add in Hill, Trienen and formerly Tatusko … still this is a highly motivated team whether prospect or hired gun by Rizzo. To illustrate this point: the Chiefs have totally dominated the next best first place team in the IL in this series. If they win tomorrow they will achieve a season sweep of Tampa Bay’s AAA IL franchise. That never happens. If there is anything that belongs in the GBI under “G” that has to be one.
I begin to think that Billy Gardner Jr. may be the very best baseball manager the Nationals franchise has yet seen maybe, just maybe short of the smartest man in baseball Davey Johnson.
