I don’t mean to jinx it, but it looks like something may have clicked with Espinosa.

In the past 10 games, he’s batting .306/.359/.417, but most importantly he’s only struck out 7 times in 36 AB, compare that to 32 K in the previous 56 AB.

In an odd way, I’m really pleased that his power is down as well! It’s the HR swing that has been destroying his approach.

Still, there’s a long way to go. Despite the improvement, he’s still only batting .185/.255/.250 at Syracuse with a 39% strikeout rate.

The lack of power still says he needs to get the rotator cuff surgery done. He’s hit some doubles but given his major league experience and power potential he should be banging some out not just off the wall. Jury is still decidedly out on him unless he can turn himself into more of a table setter with little power and a high OBP?

ALERT ALERT! Espinosa hit a home run … so maybe he will turn it all around … it just doesn’t seem possible given the rotator cuff plus wrist.

Brian Bocock to the Pirates for Jerolman. SYR drops another off the roster today.
