Syracuse put up a pair of crooked numbers early, scoring three runs in each of the first two innings, but couldn’t keep Toledo at bay and fell, 9-7. Starter Danny Rosenbaum gave up four runs on nine hits and three walks. Mike Crotta suffered the loss as the bullpen gave up five runs, three by him, two by Ryan Perry. Eury Perez homered and scored three runs while recently demoted Tyler Moore drove in four while going 1-for-4.

Taylor Jordan tossed the second nine-inning shutout of the season, as the Senators blanked the Flying Squirrels, 9-0 and vaulted Harrisburg into a three-way tie for first. Jordan allowed just five hits and one walk while striking out 11. At the plate, the 24-y.o. went 2-for-3 with a walk, an RBI, and three runs scored. Brian Goodwin and Justin Bloxom both tripled and drove in two runs as the Senators scored nine times on just eight hits and six walks.
Roster move: RHP Marcos Frias activated from the 7-Day DL and reassigned to Potomac.

Roster moves: IF Francisco Soriano reassigned from Harrisburg, IF Cutter Dykstra, RHPs Cameron Selik and Colin Bates placed on the 7-Day DL
Hagerstown vs. Lakewood — PPD
Rain postponed the start of the final series of the first half. It will be made up tomorrow as part of a doubleheader. First-place Hickory edged Delmarva, 5-4 to lower the magic number to clinch to two with three games to play as the Suns now trail the Crawdads by a full game.
DSL Nationals 9 DSL Rojos 5
• Valerio (W, 1-0) 5IP, 2H, 1R, 0ER, 0BB, 5K
• Aguero 3-5, R, 2B, 3B, RBI
• Alvarez 2-3, 2R, 2BB, SB
• Corredor 2-4, 2R, BB, RBI
A five-run 7th broke open a 2-1 game as the D-Nat held off a late charge from the D-Rojos for a 9-5 win. Maximo Valerio got his first win in his third start, allowing an unearned run on two hits, with no walks and five strikeouts. “Fred” Aguero was a homer shy of the cycle while going 3-for-5 with an RBI and a run scored. Proof that perhaps I needed this vacation is that the DSL season was overlooked for nearly two weeks. I’ve gone back and edited the daily N&N’s to add the scores back in for those inclined to peruse them.
Jordan’s having an unbelievable year!
Luke, you really need a separate post when you get back from vacation just on him. I have to admit, I didn’t see him with this kind of trajectory.
Great year so far for Potomac.
I am with Mark, I’d like to know more about him, like what his pitching repertoire looks like and how the stuff is expected to play up.
Great looking stats from Cole’s start too.
Where did Goodwin’s power go?
Wow. What a day for Nats prospects!
Eury Perez, last night, hit his 4th HR. In 42 games and 190 ABs at AAA, Perez has now hit as many HRs as he had hit in his career in regular season baseball (that’s 377 games and 1394 ABs).
Taylor Jordan’s season has been unreal. I’ve run out of ways to describe what’s he’s done so far. He’s given up 3 runs in 41 innings at AA. Three! And he’d never pitched above Hagerstown before April.
Also another fantastic start from Cole. He seems to be hitting his stride. In June, he’s racked up 29Ks in only 18 IP (2.45 ERA)! Interestingly, they’ve added pitch counts to the box scores (at least for yesterday’s game). Cole logged 92 pitches. That’s a good sign for 7 innings.
Also, a shout out to Billy Burns who now has the 5th most SBs among all levels. But more importantly, he has the highest success rate of any player with 20+ SBs (a remarkable 92% success rate).
