Brian Dupra Promoted To Potomac
The Potomac Nationals have announced that RHP Brian Dupra has been promoted from the Hagerstown Suns.
Dupra was 1-2 with a 3.72 ERA in five appearances (one start) with six walks and 12 strikeouts over 19⅓ innings. He was a 2012 watchlist player after posting strong peripherals for Auburn following a four-year career at Notre Dame, but was limited to eight starts and 11 appearances last season before undergoing season-ending surgery.
A corresponding move for Hagerstown has not yet been announced, but to make room for Dupra on the P-Nats roster, LHP Ben Hawkins was assigned to Extended Spring Training. Hawkins had no wins or losses in seven appearances, but put on 21 baserunners in eight innings pitched and had an ERA of 5.63 with nine strikeouts.
Finally, unless you’re Mitch Williams from the MLB Network, you probably already know that “Face of the Franchise” 3B Ryan Zimmerman will be rehabbing with Potomac tonight and tomorrow (weather permitting) in preparation for his activation on Friday, which will undoubtedly result in a series of transactions, beginning with the expected return of Anthony Rendon to Harrisburg.
