AFL Update: October 27, 2010
Tidbits from Tuesday's AFL action involving the Nats
The Scottsdale Scorpions dropped their second straight decision, 7-4, while three Nationals saw game action…
- Steve Lombardozzi led off, played 2B, but went 0-for-4 with a walk and a stolen base
- Michael Burgess batted seventh, played RF, and had a 3-for-5 night with a double, triple, two runs scored and two RBI
- Brad Peacock pitched a scoreless inning of middle relief (4th) and allowed just a walk
The loss drops Scottsdale to 8-5, tied for first place with the Mesa Solar Sox. The former visits the latter this afternoon with Bryce Harper eligible to play.
I know it’s still early (small sample size & all that), but it seems like Peacock (the younger) is making a case for himself so far in AZ. Kimball also just keeps cruising along under nearly everybody’s radar – I like that.
It looks like Solis has the start tomorrow (10/28) for the Scorpions; Hoping he can post a good outing. Also hoping Lombardozzi can pick it up a little at the plate – the other 2B (Culberson-SF) is apparently slapping the ball all over the yard right now, but has some glove issues.
I concur with BinM on Peacock, the more I dig up on this guy, the better it looks. He’s only 22!!!
All that whining about how the Nationals don’t develop should look at this kid, drafted out of the 41st round. (41st!!!).
Go Peacock!
You, preacher. Me, choir. You’ll get it when you see the site next 😉
