AFL Update: October 15, 2010
A quick rundown on how the Nats fared in Thursday's AFL action
Four Nats saw action in yesterday’s 5-1 loss by the Scottsdale Scorpions to the Phoenix Desert Dogs…
- Steve Lombardozzi was the DH and went 1-for-5 with a run scored
- Derek Norris caught and went 1-for-3 with a walk and a strikeout; he was 0-for-1 in throwing out runners
- Michael Burgess played RF and went 1-for-3 with a walk, a strikeout, and a stolen base; he committed an error
- Adam Carr pitched the 8th inning and allowed a run on two hits and walk and did not strike out a batter
Pretty typical Norris line it sounds like. The man continues to rev up for AA. Hope he’s impressing the scouts enough to raise his potential trade value if it comes to that and rise up the lists a bit.
Hope you’re wrong, Souldrummer, about Norris being traded. He’s homegrown for #$%^%$#. I’m not sure Rizzo knows the concept of ‘fan favorite’ yet, but what could be better than someone like Norris playing for the Nats for 15 years. We’ve watched him grow up.
Considering our catching ranks are thinner than a Tea Party candidate’s resume, I’d say the odds are pretty good he’ll be kept until he proves to be the next Scott Hatteberg.
Sue: That’s probably overstating it a bit, but you made your point. Coming into 2011, we see Ramos (23,WSH) & Flores (27,WSH) behind Pudge in WSH, and with guys like Norris (22, A+), Nieto (21,A-), Freitas (22, SS), Taveras (22, R), Mayo (23, R), Chacin (20,DSL), and Ruiz (19,DSL) in the mix, the system may be thin, but not quite as skimpy as you allude to.
Dammit, BinM – Don’t let the truth get in the way of a good joke (or a bad one for that matter)! But you’re right… In fact, I’m finishing up the Vermont season review and you’ll see from one semi-bold prediction that I agree with you.
Oops – Didn’t mean to crush the punchline. Nice tease on the lede for the Vermont review, btw; That could make for some upbeat reading.
Sue, I thougth anybody could come to a tea party. Even my neighbor’s sock puppet George B.. I liked George B. but take away the hand and he ain’t nothing but a limp sock with a smile…darn that sounds familiar, eh!
Berndaddie, do I detect a Canadian accent there?
