The F-Nats got a grand slam in the 3rd and three runs in the 5th and wobbled past the F-Mets for a 7-6 win in seven innings. Trevor Williams took his rehab tour to Florida again and gave up an unearned run on a hit and a walk while striking out five. Leodarlyn Colon was the pitcher of record and got the win despite letting in two runs on home run over an an inning and 2/3rds. Marconi German drove in five with the aforementioned HR and an RBI triple while Brayan Cortesia reached base twice and scored twice, combining with Nauris De La Cruz on the back end of a double-steal of second and home.

The D-Nats blew an early 4-0 lead to drop their fifth straight, 12-8. Franniel Reynoso didn’t make it out of the 2nd as he was strafed for five runs on a hit and three walks to lose his second game. Euris Acosta singled four times in four trips to the plate but was 0-for-3 on steals. Rony Bello was a triple shy of the cycle, scored twice, and drove in two to lead the DSL Nationals offense.

- RHP Adam Bogosian demoted to the FCL from Fredericksburg
- LHP Matt Krook outrighted from Washington, elected free agency
What’s the logic behind sending Bogosian back to the FCL? He was doing well in Fredericksburg, had two scoreless 2 inning appearances in Fburg to date. When you have guys like Ike Buxton and LJ Waco on the FNats roster, who are both older and have performed substantially worse than Bogosian, it’s a head-scratcher.
I’m not claiming Bogosian is a prospect or anything, but it’s one of a few moves recently where guys have been demoted despite performing well, at the expense of worse alternatives (both in reputation AND performance). Pablo Aldonis’ demotion from Wilmington to Fredericksburg is another similar example.
All this talk of roster limits doesn’t have me concerned. There are maybe 10 players worth keeping around next season on the FCL Nats’ roster out of 32. There’s another half dozen to a dozen in Fredericksburg who have no business sticking around, and a handful in each of Wilmington, Harrisburg and Rochester.
The org is deeper than it’s ever been in years, but there’s still significant quality of depth issues, especially at the lower levels. It will be very easy to accommodate the 10-15 or so players from this year’s draft.
I think he’ll be sent back up once the FredNats are playing again. This reminds me of how one or two guys would get “demoted” to Auburn to make one more start or appearance once the Hagerstown season was done because the NYPL usually finished 5-6 days later than the Sally League.

Maybe it’s like when the business specialist is sent to the home base of west plan away from the satellitte office in Virginia ?
Home base has all the special bells whistles and instruction for better performance improvements ?
After a slow start (which isn’t unusual for a Dominican player first time playing in the US), Marconi German is starting to cook. Not sure if he can stay at SS (another error yesterday), but love the almost 1:1 BB:K ratio, and for a small guy, he has pop and can run. After years of no middle infield prospects, a lot of options in the organization now.
Trevor Williams had 5Ks in 2IP, but against the lowest level minor leaguers, any idea of what his velo was? Hard to get such numbers at that level. Thought the Nats might be done with Williams, but given the bullpen’s abysmal performance, they are going to give Trevor a shot to at least be not as bad as the others that the Nats have leaned on.
