Rochester Red Wings, 22-33, T8th place I.L. East, 18GB
Rochester has climbed out of the cellar and into a tie for 8th place with a seven-game win streak, including a six-game sweep of Columbus. Much of that can be attributed to Andrés Chapparro, the I.L. Player of the Week for May 26-June 1 as he posted a line of .444/.556/.952 with two doubles, three HR, nine RBI, and five walks. This week, the Red Wings head east over the Thruway and through the Pike to play the (ugh) Woo Sox for six, including a 1105am matinee tomorrow. Roster moves: It’s not official yet, but there’s online chatter that RHP Holden Powell will return to AAA after a two-year absence.
Harrisburg Senators, 24-27, T3rd place E.L. Southwest, 10GB
The Senators took four of six from the Flying Squirrels to return to 3rd place (tied) though they remain 10 games off the pace. This week, Harrisburg takes on last-place Reading for the second of its two series this season. Roster moves: Likewise, Seaver King is reportedly headed to City Isle after just 45 games at High-A. No word on a corresponding move, up or down to make room or backfill his spot.
Wilmington Blue Rocks, 21-30, 4th place Sally Lg. North, 15GB
Wilmington won its third series of the season with a 4-2 margin against Hudson Valley and moved up to 4th place but remains 15 games behind. The Blue Rocks return home after two weeks on the road to take on the Cyclones for the fourth of five series this season.
Fredericksburg Nationals, 21-29, 4th Place C.L. North, 12½ GB
Fredericksburg dropped five of six to Lynchburg to fall another 3½ games off the pace and are now -23 in the run differential, two games worse than the expected W-L. This week it’s the final home series of the first half as last-place Delmarva comes to town for five night games and a day game on Sunday.

The DSL Nationals erased a 2-1 deficit with a three-run 3rd to take the season opener from the DSL Tiger 2, 4-2. Juan Reyes fell one out short of getting the win, allowing bothe D-Tigers2 runs on six hits. He walked none and struck out four. Jose Sanchez got the next four outs to earn the “W” while Manuel Ruiz cordero’d around two hits and a walk to earn a save in his pro debut. Angel Requena reached base three times on two singles and a walk while 17-y.o. Venezuelan Brayan Cortesia walked, doubled, and drove in a run to pace the D-Nats attack.

nice bounce-back from Jose Feliz after a couple of ragged starts

Jacob Young is rehabbing in Harrisburg this week.
what a finish in Harrisburg, especially sweet because it was the Phillies that the Senators walked off. way to go Carlos
