Jacksonville 5 Rochester 4
• Cavalli 3⅔ IP, 2H, 3R, 3ER, 5BB, 2K
• Dunshee (BS, 1; L, 1-2) 1IP, 3H, 2R, 2ER, 0BB, 1K, HR
• Pinckney 2-4, 2R, 2SB
• Millas 1-3, R, BB, 2B(5), RBI
Rochester didn’t score five runs, and thus, per the rules of the 2025 season, lost Forrest Gump pause again, 5-4. Cade Cavalli walked five and didn’t make it out of the 4th, allowing three runs on two hits and striking out two. He was taken off the hook for a possible loss when Daylen Lile hit a sacrifice fly to give the Red Wings a 4-3 lead in the bottom of the 4th. That went buh-bye with a two-run HR off Phil Dunshee in the 8th. Dunshee would get the blown-save-loss. Andrew Pinckney singled twice and stole two bases while Drew Millas’s fifth double was the sole extra-base hit for the Red Wings. Brady House extended his hit streak to 14 with a single in the 7th. Roster moves: RHP Ryan Loutos recalled to Washington.
Harrisburg 3 Chesapeake 2 (11 inn.)
• Cornelio 5IP, 5H, 1R, 1ER, 2BB, 5K, HR
• Saenz 1⅔ IP, 1H, 0R, 1BB, 2K
• Acosta (W, 1-1) 2⅓ IP, 0H, 1R, 0ER, 2BB, 3K, 2WP
• McKenzie 1-4, BB, 2B, RBI
• Naranjo 1-5, R, HR, RBI
Conversely, the Senators have been on a run for winning the close ballgames as they won their sixth out of the last seven to sink the BaySox, 3-2 in 11 innings. Riley Cornelio allowed a run a home run and five hits total over the first five innings. He was in position to lose until Joe Naranjo homered in the 7th to the game at 1-1. The bullpen held serve until Harrisburg pushed two across in the top of the 11th with an error sending in the free runner and Jared McKenzie doubling in the other run with the fifth and final Sens hit. Daison Acosta, who got the last out of the 9th, wild-pitched in the second Chesapeake run but left the tying run 90′ away with his third whiff to end the game.
• Clemmey 5⅔ IP, 3H, 2R, 1ER, 4BB, 5K
• Arguelles (W, 4-2) 1⅔ IP, 0H, 0R, 1BB, 1K
• M. Gomez (SV, 1) 1⅔ IP, 0H, 0R, 0BB, 2K
• Lawson 1-3, 2BB, RBI
• Farmer 1-4, R, HR, 2RBI
Wilmington lost an early 2-0 lead in the 6th but answered with the deciding run in the 7th to edge Hub City, 3-2 and extend the Blue Rocks win streak to six. Alex Clemmey pitched into the 6th for the fourth time, giving up two runs (one earned) on three hits and four walks. He struck out five. Anthony Arguelles and Miguel Gomez each got five outs while finishing the game to earn the win and save, respectively. Cortland Lawson reached base three times on two walks and a single while Caleb Farmer homered and drove in two to lead the Wilmington offense.
Fayetteville 6 Fredericksburg 0
• Polanco (L, 3-5) 5IP, 3H, 1R, 1ER, 2BB, 10K, HR, 2E
• Peoples 1-1, 2BB, CS
• Vaquero 1-4, SB(10)
Bryan Polanco dominated Fayetteville for five innings but the offense was AWOL as Fredericksburg was shut out, 6-0 on three hits. Polanco struck out a career-high ten batters over five innings and gave up one run on three hits and two walks. Alas, with just three singles and four walks of offense, he took the loss. The less said about the bullpen the better, but even a MASN Commenter can understand: five runs over three innings is lighting the fire, not putting it out.
• Ogasawara 2IP, 1H, 0R, 0BB, 2K, HBP
• Johnson (BS, 1) 1⅓ IP, 3H, 1R, 1ER, 1BB, 0K
• Luis (BS, 1; W, 1-0) 2IP, 2H, 1R, 0ER, 1BB,
• A. Feliz 3-6, BB, 2RBI
• Jones 2-5, R, BB, 2B, RBI
• Cabrera 2-2, R, 2BB, RBI, 2HBP, SB
The F-Nats blew a 4-1 lead to force extras where they outlasted the F-Marlins by scoring three times in four innings to the F-Marlins two times to win, 7-6. Shinnosuke Ogasawara made the rehab start and tossed two scoreless with one hit and one Robles while striking out two. Luke Johnson let in the tying run for a blown save as did Andy Luis who picked up the win when he kept the FCL Marlins from scoring in the 13th. Angel Feliz led the hit column with three singles, followed by Jamison Jones with a single and a double, and Manuel Cabrera with two singles. Roster moves: RHP Mason Thompson assigned from Washington for MLB rehab; LHP Shinnosuke Ogasawara assigned from Rochester for MiLB rehab’ OF Elijah Green assigned from Wilmington for MiLB rehab.
DSL Angels 5 DSL Nationals 4
• H. Mejia (L, 0-2) 2⅓ IP, 5H, 5R, 4ER, 3BB, 2K
• Ju. Lopez 2⅔ IP, 0H, 0R, 0BB, 3K, HBP
• N. De La Cruz 1-2, R, BB, 3B, RBI
• German 0-2, 2R, BB, HBP, SB(5)
The DSL Nationals were smited again by the DSL Angels, 5-4. Hernan Mejia gave up all five D-Angels runs on five hits and three walks over two and a 1/3rd innings. Nauris De La Cruz and Marconi German were the only two D-Nats to reach base twice with both drawing a walk, De La Cruz hitting an RBI triple, and German getting hit by a pitch but scoring twice.
one step back for Cavalli in regard to fastball command. missing up the entire time he throws more curve balls to compensate. they weren’t finding the zone either.
Clemmey might miss with his fastball but he keeps pumping it. finds a bit of a groove and gets into the sixth.
When one sees the line on Choi so far in an outing one can just deduct
He hung a couple off speed pitches.
Phil “Crocodile” Dunshee?
Angel Feliz: .317/.403/.426, 12.5% BB9, 18.3% K9. There’s a lot to like right there! He is riding a .395 BABIP, though. There’s a lot of room to project on 6-3, 185 at 18 years old, particularly on one who makes regular contact against pro pitching.
Good one , KW.
Now THATS a knife !
