Rochester came within one strike of winning 3-2 on Brady House’s two HRs, but a two-out double by former Nats prospect Andrew Stevenson tied the game and the Red Wings ‘pen imploded for six more runs to give Durham the 9-3 win. Carlos Romero was charged with his second blown save and his first loss, with a dishonorable mention to Marquis Grissom Jr., who let in one inherited runner and four more – three on a home run. Starter Andrew Alvarez saw his six and a 1/3rd innings of one-run pitching (a season-best) wasted for the no-decision. Drew Millas had the only other hit for the Red Wings, who went 0-for-3 with RISP and left on three baseunners. Roster moves: UT Paul Witt activated from 7-Day I.L.; C Andrew Knizner exercised escape release clause in his contract.

A four-run 6th broke open a 3-1 game as the Senators were doubled up by the Curve for their third straight loss. Hyun-Il Choi took the loss, giving up seven runs (four earned) on seven hits (two HR) and two walks over five and a 1/3rd innings. Joe Naranjo and Carlos De La Cruz both went 2-for-4 with a double while Max Romero Jr. drove in three to lead the Harrisurg offense.

Two Wilmington pitchers combined on a one-hit, 2-0 shutout of Jersey Shore. Riley Cornelio gave up that hit while turning in the best outing of his pro career with seven scoreless, three walks, and five whiffs. Plus, he won, too! Austin Amaral retired the last six BlueClaws batters in order to earn the save. Branden Boisserie’s two-run HR masked a dismal 1-for-9 mark with RISP and 11 runners left on base. The other seven hits were all singles, with two by Armando Cruz.

The FredNats were shut out for the third time this season, 2-0 on four hits. Angel Roman turned in five runs of one-run ball on three hits and three walks. He struck out six but lost for the fourth time. Jorgelys Mota singled twice, Jackson Ross once, and Nate Rombach doubled to round out the four FredNats hits.

Back-to-back RBI singles by Enmanuel Ramirez and Andrés Chapparo tied the game at 2-2 and the won the game for the FCL Nationals, 3-2. That made a winner out of Pablo Aldonis, who put up two goose eggs in the final two frames with one, no walks, and two whiffs. Darrel Lunar got the start and allowed a solo HR and three hits total over four innings. He walked two and struck out four. Ramirez singled and walked earlier on the game while Feldi Tavarez broke an 0-for-23 slump with an RBI double for his first hit of the season.
