Rochester 10 Columbus 9
• Alvarez 4+ IP, 7H, 4R, 3ER, 0BB, 3K, HR, 2WP
• Helvey (BS, 1) 1IP, 3H, 3R, 3ER, 0BB, 1K, HR
• Grissom 1IP, 11H, 0R, 0BB, 2K, HBP
• House 2-3, 2R, 2BB, E
• Schnell 3-5, R, 2B, HR, 4RBI
• Chapparro 2-4, 2R, BB, HR, 4RBI
The Red Wings blew a 6-0 lead but rallied for three in the 9th to sink the Clippers, 10-9, and extend their win streak to five. Andrew Alvarez was lifted after back-to-back doubles to lead off the 5th. He finished with four runs charged on seven hits, no walks, and three strikeouts over four-plus innings. Clay Helvey served up a two-run HR in the 8th for the blown save. In the 9th, Brady House’s second single, an Andrés Chaparro walk, and a Trey Lipscomb safety to shallow left loaded the bases with no outs. Yoyo Morales was caught looking and Drew Millas tapped back to the mound, which the pitcher bobbled and thus could not turn two. That would prove to be fatal as Nick Schnell served up a line drive down to the RF line for the two-out, two-run walkoff double.
Richmond 7 Harrisburg 6
• Saenz (L, 3-5) 4IP, 6H, 6R, 3ER, 1BB, 0K, HR
• M. Gomez 1IP, 2H, 1R, 1ER, 2BB, 0K
• Thomas 3-4, R, BB, 2B, RBI
• M. Romero 3-4, 2R, 2B, RBI
• Stehly 2-4, R, HR, 4RBI
The Harrisburg batters nearly overcame a 6-0 deficit, but the lone run the Sens ‘pen allowed proved to be the difference for a 7-6 loss. The Flying Squirrels had been held to one run in Dustin Saenz’s previous two starts against them but cracked the nut for six runs on six hits, including three HR over four innings. Johnathan Thomas and Max Romero Jr. both went 3-for-4 with a double and a RBI while Murphy Stehly singled, homered, and drove in four to power the Harrisburg offense.
Wilmington 4 Hudson Valley 0
• Stuart (W, 1-0) 5IP, 2H, 0R, 1BB, 4K
• Amaral 2IP, 1H, 0R, 1BB, 3K
• Cox 1-2, R, BB, 2B, RBI
• King 1-4, R, 3B, 2RBI
Four Blue Rocks pitchers combined to shut out the Renegades, 4-0, on five hits. Tyler Stuart stretched to five full innings, allowing two hits and a walk while setting down four on strikes to pick up the win. Jared Simpson and Wander Arias each put up a goose egg while Austin Amaral had two to complete the game. Brenner Cox doubled in one, Seaver King tripled in two, while Elijah Nunez and Armando Cruz both singled to round out the Wilmington hit column (toothpick?) of four.
Lynchburg 8 Fredericksburg 7
• Garcia 4⅔ IP, 1H, 0R, 3BB, 7K
• Adon 4BF, 4BB
• Minckler (BS, 3; L, 1-3) 1⅔ IP, 4H, 4R, 4ER, IBB, 2K, HBP, WP
• Mota 2-4, BB, 2B(10), 2RBI
• Gallardo 2-4, R
• Vaquero 1-3, R, 2BB, RBI
A six-run lead was too small for the Fredericksburg bullpen to hold as they coughed up four in the 6th and four in the 9th to lose, 8-7. Davian Garcia pitched into the 5th, giving up a hit and three walks while striking out seven. Joan Adon made his first appearance in 31 days and probably needed a 32nd day away as he walked all four batters he faced on 19 pitches. Matt Bollenbacher hit his first batter and got the next three batters but all three of his inherited runners scored. The Hillcats’ Donovan Zsask matched Adon in the 9th to give the FredNats a 7-4 cushion. Ryan Minckler, whio had retired the side in order in the 8th, fell apart in the 9th with two doubles, two singles, a Robles, a wild pitch to for his third blown save and third loss. Roster moves: RHPs Daison Acosta, Joan Adon assigned from Rochester for MiLB rehab.
FCL Marlins 11 FCL Nationals 6
• Portorreal 3IP, 5H, 3R, 2ER, 1BB, 6K
• Colon 2IP, 1H, 0R, 2BB, 3K
• Martina (BS, 1; L, 1-1) 1IP, 3H, 3R, 2ER, 1BB, 1K, E
• A. Feliz 2-4, R, BB, 2B, RBI
• F. Tavarez 2-5, R, RBI, SB
• L. Arias 2-5, 3K
The F-Nats blew leads of 3-2 and 4-3 as the F-Marlins scored eight unanswered runs from the 6th to the 9th in an 11-6 win. Leuris Portorreal went the first three and gave up three runs (two earned) on five hits and a walk. Clarence Martina gave up three runs on thee hits and a walk in his single inning thrown for the blown-save-loss. Angel Feliz walked, singled, and doubled while Feldi Tavarez went 2-for-5 with an RBI and a run scored to pace the FCL Nationals offense.
I hope Murphy Stehly is buying lottery tickets. The dude has a .560 BABIP, with 16 hits in 11 games at AA. Ride that wave as long as you can, guy!
I don’t know what date the Nats have in mind for promoting House, but it’s likely to be in the coming month. He looks ready, no one is standing in his way at 3B, and the lineup is short on RH hitting.
After 18 games at the complex, Angel Feliz is slashing .343/.427/.486.
Good to see Stuart looking so solid in his rehab. He definitely has MLB potential.
Keith Law had Dickerson at 48 in his latest top 50.
His replies to commenters were that House is still chasing too much and Sykora has not pitched enough his year to merit consideration.
Daylen Lile made the top 3 play on sports center this morning, Last week when Delino and I were talking about Daylen making top 2, his comment was “he was here yesterday”, and so he was, nice to see our former Harrisburg Senators doing so well in the bigs!
