The Red Wings erased a three-run deficit with a five-run 5th and held off a late charge by the Bulls to take the series finale, 7-5. Seth Shuman turned in his third quality start of the season but finally won his first game with three runs let in on six hits (two HR) over six innings. He walked none and struck out three. Darren Baker and Daylen Lile both singled twice and combined to score three runs to lead the Rochester offense.

Cayden Wallace’s grand slam in the 1st got the party started and six relievers made it stand up as Harrisburg held on to beat Altoona, 6-4. Thomas Schultz was the opener but was dinged for two runs over two innings. Garrett Davila was credited with the win with a scoreless 5th inning pitched while Michael Cuevas retired the side in order in the 9th to earn the save, his sixth. Yoyo Morales was the sole batter to reach base twice (two singles) as the Senators mustered six hits and one walk total.

The BlueClaws scored in three of its first five “ups” and held off the Blue Rocks to hand Wilmington a 6-4 loss. Wander Arias made his fourth start and pitched into the 4th for the 1st time, but suffered his third loss with four runs allowed on seven hits (one HR) and a walk. He struck out two and hit a batter. Branden Bosseirie singled once, doubled twice, and scored twice, including ahead of T.J. White’s two-run HR in 8th that brought the Blue Rocks within striking distance. Alas, Wilmington went in order in the 9th.

Luke Dickerson’s bases-clearing double turned a 1-0 deficit into a 3-1 lead as Fredericksburg downed Delmarva, 7-2 in the series finale. Davian Garcia pitched into the 6th for the first time in his pro career, allowing one run on a home run and two hits total. He walked three and struck out eight (also a career high). Elijah Nunez, Cristhian Vaquero, and Jackson Ross each had two singles and scored a run to pace the FredNats attack.

FCL Nationals, 6-5, 3rd place FCL East, 1GB
The F-Nats are averaging 5.73 R/G, which is fourth-best in the FCL, and nearly a run better than Senators (4.74 R/G), which may explain they’re the only two affiliates close to.500. Perhaps more encouraging: the group of batters is roughly league average at 19.6 y.o. The pitchers skew older—21.5 vs. 20.8 Lg. Avg.—which is skewed somewhat by the usual round of rehabbers. This week, they’re home for games on Tuesday and Wednesday, in Jupiter today (F-Cards) and Thursday (F-Marlins), Port St. Lucie on Friday, and off on Saturday.
