Rochester 8 Columbus 7 (10 inn.)
• Shuman 5IP, 7H, 5R, 5ER, 2BB, 6K, HR
• Sinclair (W, 3-1) 1IP, 0H, 0R, 0BB, 2K
• Millas 3-5, 2RBI
• House 2-4, 2R, 2BB, HR(10), 3RBI
• Morales 2-4, BB
Rochester rallied for two in the 9th and pushed across the gamewinner in the 10th to take their fourth stright game, 7-6. Seth Shuman’s struggles continued as the 27-y.o. let in five runs on seven hits (one HR) and two walks over five innings to blow a 5-3 lead and “earn” the no-decision. Brady House bookended the Red Wings scoring with a two-run HR in the 1st and a bases-loaded walk in the 10th. That made a winner out of Jack Sinclair, who struck out two in the top of the 10th.
Harrisburg 8 Richmond 3
• Choi 5IP, 4H, 0R, 1BB, 7K, HBP
• Armstrong (BS, 3) ⅔ IP, 2H, 3R, 3ER, 1BB, 0K, HR
• Davila (W, 4-2) 1IP, 1H, 0R, 0BB, 0K
• Made 3-3, BB, RBI
• Stehly 2-4, 2R – 6G hit streak
• Wallace 2-4, 2R, 2B
The Senators coughed up a 3-0 lead in the 6th but got three in the 7th and two in the 8th to ground the Flying Squirrels, 8-3. The meltdown erased five scoreless innings by starter Hyun-Il Choi, with four hits, one walk, one Robles, and seven whiffs. Ivan Armstrong gave up the aforementioned three runs, the last two coming on a home run. Garrett Davila picked up the win while Chance Huff got the hold. Kevin Made led the Harrisburg hit column with three singles, followed by Cayden Wallace with a single and a double and Murphy Stehly with two safeties to push his BA to .424.
Wilmington 7 Hudson Valley 6 (10 inn.)
• Sthele 5⅔ IP, 7H, 5R, 5ER, 1BB, 3K
• Tolman (BS, 1) 2⅓ IP, 1H, 1R, 1ER, 2BB, 2K, HR, HBP
• Bloebaum (W, 1-0) 2IP, 0H, 0R, 2BB, 2K, BK
• Lomavita 2-5, 2R, 2B, 3K
• White 1-3, 2R, 2BB, 2B
• Cox 1-4, BB, 2B, 2RBI, SB
Wilmington overcame a 3-0 deficit, took a 6-4 lead, gave it back, but prevailed in extras, 7-6. Travis “Sunday” Sthele pitched into the 6th but was dinged for five runs on seven hits and a walk. Erik Tolman stranded two in the 6th but allowed a game-tying HR for the blown save. Adam Bloebaum walked two and struck out two while putting up goose eggs in the 9th and 10th to get the “W.” Chad Lomavita singled, doubled, and scored twice while T.J. White doubled once, scored twice, and walked twice to lead the Blue Rocks offense.
Fredericksburg 7 Lynchburg 6
• Roman 2IP, 4H, 5R, 4ER, 3BB, 1K
• Otanez (W, 2-0) 2IP, 1H, 1R, 1ER, 1BB, 1K
• Baldo (SV, 3) 1IP, 3H, 0R, 0BB, 1K
• Bazzell 2-3, R, BB,
• Mota 2-4, R, SB, HBP
The FredNats did what they could to extend their five-game losing streak, blowing a 4-0 lead in the 1st and loading the bases in the 9th with three straight singles. Alas, Merrick Baldo strick out the next batter and then Cristhian Vaquero easily gunned down the runner trying to score on a shallow flyball for a game-ending 8-2 DP to cinch a 7-6 win. Baldo came away with the save while Johan Otanez got the win. Fredericksburg scored six of its seven runs on flyballs, with two going out of the park for three runs and three sacrifice flies.
FCL Nationals 7 FCL Marlins 4 (10 inn.)
• Lunar 3IP, 2H, 1R, 0ER, 3BB, 5K, HBP, WP

• Rojas 3-5
• Jones 2-4, R, 2BB, E
The FCL Nationals couldn’t hold a 4-0 lead but got three in in the 10th to put down the FCL Marlins, 7-4. Darrel Lunar went the first three and let in an unearned run on two hits and three walks while striking out five. Bryan Sanchez retired six of seven batters in the 9th and 10th to earn the win, his first of ’25. Angel Feliz singled twice, tripled once, and stole two bases while Eyeksson Rojas went 3-for-5 to lead the F-Nats 16-hit parade.
DeShields was ejected in the 6th inning after the game tying HR. He was arguing that it was a foul ball.
Does anyone know why Sam Peterson is still down in Florida? He is 22 and hitting .393. I would have thought he would have been right behind Dickerson getting called up, but was wondering why we seem to be taking our time with an “older” prospect.
Shout out to Hyun Il-Choi.
The Rule V pick up from the Dodgers was horrid in April (20 IP 9.90 ERA 1.60 WHIP), but he has been dominant in May (27.1 IP 1.65 ERA 1.06 WHIP, including a 7/30 BB/K ratio). Choi turned 25 this week, and he’s doing his best to move from roster filler to legit prospect.
some bizarre occurrences in upstate NY.
Shuman called for a balk for not advising umpires he intended to work from the windup with the bases loaded, twice! after that he was Nuke Laloosh with the exaggerated motion.
in the bottom of the ninth the Wings ran into a DP after a ball was dropped on an infield fly rule play.
Wow. Extra innings were very good for the organization yesterday.
