Jeeze. This is going to be another long year, isn’t it…
At least some of the bats woke up yesterday.
House has begun the season well, hitting .367/.424/.600 so far. The Ks and BBs also are at sustainable rates, at least compared to his stint in AAA last year.
A rough outing from Ogasawara though. Has the scouting report already gotten around? 9 H allowed is way too hittable, continuing the trend from Spring.
A very good AA debut from Susana. He’s never really been one to manage his pitch counts well, but in very poor start to the season for most prospects, Susana bucks the trend.
Lastly, quite an impressive professional debut from Jackson Kent, a 9th round pick, 5 year senior! Kent’s debut came the day after his 25th birthday, and what a debut it was. A triple short of the cycle. Well done. Hope he gets a stiffer, more age-appropriate challenge soon!
Lastly, Elijah Green struck out in each of his two at bats. He’s now 0 for 10 with 9 strikeouts. But at least he didn’t strikeout in every at bat! Oh, you mean the other out was a GIDP? Well.. he took his first walk yesterday! And then he immediately got picked off first base.. Words fail me in describing this disappointment of this first round pick.
Sorry, getting my Jacksons confused. Jackson Ross, not Kent. Kent also made his professional debut, and a pretty solid one at that!
Here’s to hoping for more continued success with our Jackson 5: Kent, Ross, Rutledge, Cluff, and Sinclair (honorary member, being both “Jack” and a “son”).
I watched the Senators on MILB.TV. It was 37 degrees at game time in Erie and Susana’s first pitch was 102. His fastball was consistently between 99 and 102. He also had his slider working well.
