Nats Walk Off Mets, 5-4; Second Set of Cuts
A Robles followed by a single by Nasim Nuñez and an error sent home pinch-runner Daylen Lile all the way from first, as the Nats walked off the Mets, 5-4 for their third straight win on Friday night.
Trevor Williams lengthened to four innings in his third ST outing, allowing one run on three hits and a walk and striking out three. The win went to Daison Acosta on a 1-2-3 ninth with a whiff.
Dylan Crews made the start in CF and batted second. He went 2-for-4 with a stolen base and a run scored.
The rest of watchlisters came off the bench or out of the ‘pen:
- Andrew Pinckney replaced Alex Call in RF and played the 8th and 9th innings on defense. He did not bat.
- Likewise for Cayden Wallace and Luis García Jr at 2B.
- Ditto for Darren Baker and James Wood in LF.
- Brady House subbed for Paul DeJong at 3B and flew out in his lone AB.
- Robert Hassell followed Crews in CF and drew a walk in his only PA.
- Evan Reifert turned in his second clean outing in his fifth appearance, retiring the side in the 7th – two by way of the K.
The Nats (8-5) return to West Palm Beach to play the… wait for it… Cards (6-8) this afternoon. DJ Herz is slated to make his third ST start. The game can been seen on local cable access MASN.
Prior to the game, Washington announced the following moves:
REASSIGNED TO MINOR LEAGUE CAMP
● RHP Joan Adon
● RHP Konnor Pilkington
OPTIONED TO ROCHESTER
● RHP Andry Lara
● RHP Cole Henry
According to MASN’s Mark Zuckerman, that leaves 48 players in camp – including 60-day IL’ers Josiah Gray and Mason Thompson.
I think you meant to say Cole Henry was optioned.
A nickname idea for Hassell 3
Hondo ( like the John Wayne movie )
All four of those guys (counting Henry) had good numbers. I know they want to clear space to give more work to others, but a number of them who they kept haven’t been good. I really thought that Henry might have a chance to make the 26-man.
Clean bullpen outings this Saturday afternoon
Even JR ( amazing lol )
Hassrl still making good contact
Keep it up , Hondo
Hondo will always be Frank Howard for me.
