Nats Blast Cards, 12-1
An eight-run 6th broke open a 3-1 game as the Nats blasted the Cards, 12-1 on Thursday afternoon.
Michael Soroka struck out six while allowing the lone St. Louis run on four hits over four innings to pick up the “win.” Brad Lord added two goose eggs in the 5th and 6th, facing the minimum while issuing a walk and striking out none.
Dylan Crews led off and played right field. He walked twice and singled to lower his spring BA to .368. The rest of the watchlisters came off the bench:
- Daylen Lile took over for Amed Rosario in LF and reached base twice on a walk and an RBI single.
- Yoyo Morales pinch-ran for Nathaniel Crews and scored ahead of a Paul DeJong homer.
- Robert Hassell pinch-hit for Amed Rosatrio at the plate and went 1-for-2 and replaced Jacob Young in CF.
- Andrew Pinckney replaced Crews in RF and was 0-for-1.
- Cayden Wallace subbed for Trey Lipscomb at 2B and was 0-for-1 with a run scored.
- Brady House Took over 3B from DeJong and singled in the 9th.
The Nats return to West Palm Beach to host the Mets on Friday night. Trevor Williams is expected to start for the third time this spring. The game can heard locally on 980AM.
The beep beep beep beep truck sound backing up in STL Busch Stadium is truly the sound of a club in rebuild
Ahhhh spring .. Davey and Hickey just watching the “chorus line “ bullpen auditions continue .
Dylan the dude the Cajun flavor in VA.
Heartbeats higher with each base knock Hassell 3 gets .
Amed’s bat should be finding more open grass as he gets into warmer climates in May .
Meanwhile within WP is Cavilli …. Same with fellow Sooner alum Bennett?
Sitting here with a bunch of troops on a plane heading west to Texas . Ft Bliss perhaps another destination.
Friday cheers to one and all
Hockey deadline today . The oil and Avs sure loaded up …
another good outing for Lord, actually hit 97 on a couple of pitches. worked around his lone base runner with a DP on which he hustled over to cover first. a mistake he made in an earlier outing.
whether or not he heads to DC remains to be seen but he has yet to do anything to hurt his chances.
