Cards Stop Nats Streak, 5-3
St. Louis put up two-spots in both the 2nd and 4th to take a 4-2 lead and held on to beat Washington, 5-3 on Saturday afternoon.
DJ Herz gave up four runs (two earned) on four hits over three and a 1/3rd inning. He walked one and struck out one while taking the loss.
Robert Hassell got the start over Dylan Crews in RF and singled twice in three at-bats to push his spring BA to .400.
Six other watchlist players saw game action:
- Yoyo Morales subbed for Andrés Chaparro at 1B and went 1-for-2.
- Darren Baker pinch-ran for Amed Rosario in the 6th, stealing a base and scoring a run and took over 2B. He later flew out to CF in the 8th.
- Andrew Pinckney replaced Jacob Young in CF and was 0-for-1 with a strikeout.
- Brady House followed José Tena at 3B and went 0-for-1.
- Armando Cruz pinch-ran for Max Romero Jr. in the 9th but did not score.
- Daylen Lile subbed for Hassell and was 1-for-2.
The Nats head back to Port St. Lucie to visit the Mets on Sunday afternoon. Jake Irvin is slated to make his fourth start. The game will be televised on MASN.
