All Quiet on the Minor-League Front
After a flurry of posts last week we’re back to offseason mode, exacerbated by the “short” holiday season and the coincidence of Christmas and Chanukah. Never mind the return of 1934 in 34 days.
A year ago, we were consumed with the Shohei Otani sweepstakes. This year, Juan Soto, though it was pretty obvious that the number of teams that truly had a shot could be counted on the hand of a bad shop teacher. Perhaps the only consolation for Nats and Padres fans is that the Yankees were unable to retain him either.
But it’s not like he signed with the Marlins, either. The Mets merely found the line the Yankees would not cross, which we now know is actually possible. And I’m sure you remember that the ’23 Mets were but four games better than the ’23 Nats.
Not much else to pass along or comment on, so I’ll end “keep the lights on” post and return you to your National Maple Syrup Day festivities…
