AFL Update: Nov. 15, 2024
The Salt River Rafters lost again to the Surprise Sagauros, 10-2. No Nationals appeared in the game.
Three Nationals appeared in the game:
- Robert Hasselll batted second and went 0-for-3 with a walk. He played centerfield and had two putouts and an error.
- Phillip Glasser was the No. 8 batter and had a double in four trips to the plate. He played second base and had five assists.
- Luke Young struck out the only batter he faced in the 8th inning.
The loss, however, did not disqualify Salt River from today’s “play-in” game between the 2nd and 3rd place team as (presumably) Scottsdale’s win yesterday gave Scottsdale the unnamed tiebreaker over Glendale. The Rafters, Scorpions, and Desert Dogs all finished 16-14.
The Rafters and Scorpions will play at Scottsdale Stadium this evening for the spot against the Saguaros in tomorrow’s AFL Title game.
For those wondering, I’ve included some unused pics from Jerry. Above is Franklin Bravo throwing meatballs at last weeks HR derby. Below is Gabriel Hernandez conferring with Luke Young and Max Romero two weeks ago.
It’s early and the end of a pretty forgetful AFL, but Hassell, Glasser and Young all appeared yesterday. Though they didn’t do all that much. Hassell went 0 for 4. Glasser, 1 for 4 (a 2B), and Young struck out the only batter he faced.
While it doesn’t matter much at this point, it’s been 9 days since Romero last played a game. I hope he’s just tired from a long season behind the plate and they called his season prematurely, and that we didn’t suffer yet another AFL injury…
Also, thanks for Jerry for the additional photos! Always good to see the players in action.
Fixed.
