Harrisburg Won, 5-4 vs. Reading, 6:30 p.m. Saenz (1-4, 10.38) vs. Fausnaught (0-3, 4.22)
Fredericksburg Won, 7-6 OFF DAY N/A

Indianapolis 13 Rochester 3
• Alvarez (L, 6-4) 6IP, 9H, 4R, 4ER, 1BB, 4K, HR, WP, PO @ 1B
• Cate ⅔ IP, 4H, 7R, 4ER, 3BB, 0K
• Lipscomb 1-3, R, HR, 3RBI, E
• Meneses 1-4, R, 2B

An eight-run 8th put this one out of reach of the Red Wings for a 13-3 loss to the Indians. Andrew Alvarez pitched six full but gave up four runs on nine hits (one HR) and a walk. He struck out four while taking his fourth. Trey Lipscomb’s Earl Weaver Special in the top of the 7th prevented a shutout as Rochester was limited to four hits total.

Harrisburg 5 Reading 4
• Williams 3IP, 3H, 0R, 0BB, 1K
• Luckham (W, 4-8) 4⅓ P, 6H, 4R, 4ER, 1BB, 3K
• Grissom (SV, 4) 1IP, 0H, 0R, 1BB, 1K
• De La Rosa 2-4, R, HR(5), 2RBI
• Stubbs 2-4, R, 2B(10), RBI
• Wilson 1-3, RBI, SB

Reading rallied for four in the 8th but had the misfortune of doing so on a night where Harrsiburg had already scored five as the Senators held off the Fightins for a 5-4 win. Trevor Williams tossed three scoreless in a rehab outing, allowing three hits, walking none, and striking out one. Kyle Luckham wwas the pitcher of record and was credited with the “W” while giving up four runs on six hits over four and a 1/3rd, with an “assist” from Matt Cronin by allowing all three inherited runners to score before getting two outs. Marquis Grissom worked around a walk in the 9th for his fourth save. Jeremy De La Rosa homered and drove in two while C.J. Stubbs matched his 2-for-4 mark while connecting for an RBI double to highlight the Sens offense. Roster moves: RHP Trevor Williams assigned from Washington for MLB rehab; C Onix Vega placed on the Development List; RHP Nash Walters activated from 7-Day I.L., reassigned from Rochester.

Fredericksburg 7 Carolina 6
• Clemmey 3⅔ IP, 6H, 6R, 6ER, 2BB, 4K
• Sthele (W, 1-0) 3⅓ IP, 0H, 0R, 1BB, 6K, HBP
• Cranz (SV, 1) 1⅓ IP, 0H, 0R, 1BB, 2K
• Bazzell 1-3, R, SF, 2RBI
• K. Diaz 1-3, RBI, 2K, E
• Green 1-3, 2R, 0K, HBP, 3SB

Fredericksburg took advantage of five errors to score seven runs on six hits as they took Game 1 of CLDS, 7-6. Alex Clemmey was knocked from the box in the 4th, giving up all six Carolina runs on six hits and two walks. Travis Sthele was in Tuesday form, rolling a groundout to end the 4th and tossing three more scoreless innings with one walk and one Robles while striking out six of 12 batters faced. Down 6-3 after 5½ the Mudcats committed three consecutive errors to open the FredNats 6th then appeared to settle down by rolling a double play ball that made it 6-5. Two walks, a steal, and a Kelvin Diaz single tied things up at 6-6.

In the 7th, Carolina made the mistake of hitting Elijah Green. The team leader in whiffs, walks, steals, and run added to the latter two categories with a swipe of second and then advanced the next 180′ on flyouts by Seaver King and Kevin Bazzell to take a 7-6 lead. Adam Bloebaum walked the leadoff batter but a would-be steal was erased by a batter’s interference call for a double play. After a single, Robert Cranz came on, issued a walk, got the whiff, then retired the side in the 9th for the save, with Sthele picking up the win.

The series will shift to Zebulon for Games Two and Three with Travis Sykora slated to pitch tomorrow night.

If the Nats cannot sign the correct veteran FA starter this winter then why not retain Trevor Williams on a one year deal ??
Solesky makes sense as a AFL selection since he ate up some IP Henry could not fulfill the task with his DL – ing @ AA for Delino not to mention fellow AFL mate Dustin ( Roads ) Saenz .

In defense of Tuesday Travis Sthele . If we were under the old minor league schedules where trans wouldn’t play 5 games against the same opponent but three or four here three or four there .. some pitchers who get the Saturday or Sunday assignments might avoid the oppositions. Best starters .

Oof…what a poor performance by Clemmey. Still needs a lot of seasoning despite his stuff.

And I gotta say it, if, and I mean, if, Green can ever solve his contact issues, what an incredible player he will be.

De la Rosa’s home run in Harrisburg last night was impressive to watch from the bleachers. It was smacked with authority, is what I’m saying.

The bases clearing double given up by Cronin was off the wall to the same part of the field (center right), and another couple of inches and it would’ve been a grand slam.

Thanks for the report! Cronin was on his way to the bigs. Injuries may have severely curtailed his MLB chances. Good luck.
