Yesterday, MLB announced the schedule and assignment of teams to the six faux AFL franchises. This year, the Nats will sending their Rule 5 candidates amd injured players prospects to the Salt River Rafters and will be joined by the Diamondbacks, Rockies, Twins, and Yankees. Rosters will be revealed later this month. FWIW, last year the announcement came on Sept. 22.
Shout out to Jack Sinclair, who’s had a fabulous season in Harrisburg, sporting a 2.32 ERA, 0.99 WHIP, 62 K in 54 IP. Quite an impressive showing for a 16th rounder!
It’s strange that he’s still in Harrisburg, given that he actually finished last season in Rochester, but he’s not unique in this regard.
I’m just realizing he’ll be R5 eligible this winter, which will require a tough decision of whether to add him to the 40 man, which makes it all the more perplexing his extremely conservative promotion schedule this season.
That 2021 draft class actually has a number of players that will need to be considered for protection. You have House and Lile, who are pretty obvious adds. But also Saenz, TJ White, Alvarez, Marc Davis, Sinclair and Brendan Collins, who are in the mix too. I’d think Alvarez and Sinclair will be added, while White, Davis and Collins are still too un-advanced to be in real danger. Dustin Saenz, however, will be a tough one. His injury-plagued season has knocked him off his otherwise very promising path. Will be a tough one. Still, that’s 4-5 players that will need to be added.
Will, House, Lile and White were high school draftees who don’t have to be added this year
Ah, yes. Good catch. That will make roster decisions a lot easier.

and Roster Resource at Fangraphs:

Newly R5 eligible this coming off season generally are 2021 college draftees and 2020 HS draftees and 2020 IFA signings (which didn’t really happen due to covid so its kind of a skipped year).
Doing a full R5 analysis is a full blown post on its own, but just a quick scan of both sites shows a few names to consider: Alston, Romero out of AAA bullpen, Hassell 100% will be added, Andrew Alvarez is a decent candiddate, Made in AA, Lara & Theophile in the AA rotation, Sinclair and Schoff in the AA bullpen. Lots of guys to th ink about.
Just a heads-up to everyone — more than two links will get held up by my filter as a fail-safe. I didn’t get a chance to look at the comments until now.
Cáceres has been “ serviceable “ to conclude his season efforts .
TJ White come next spring should be one to keep an eye on .
Morales has an eight-game hitting streak, during which he’s accumulated an impressive 15 hits. Alas, 13 have been singles (along with two doubles). With the time he missed due to injury, he would be a good AFL candidate, as would Cayden Wallace.
Which guys get a short cup of coffee in Rochester from Harrisburg since the AAA season slightly longer ?
Lile Pinckney and Hassell 111 for a few games at least , Rochester fans
