And Now We Wait…
First of all, thanks for the kind words in the comments. It’s a reminder that people do care about what I do, even if this is a niche site with a small readership. I ain’t in this for the money or the glory, which is good because like the minors, there’s not that much of that to be found without compromising some principles.
So here’s a post to let the search engines know we haven’t gone dark while we await the release of the Arizona Fall League rosters. We all know they won’t be what we want it to be. I’m not holding my breath that Cade Cavalli will emerge from witness protection—I’m about 70% sure he’s had another surgery—and now that I look at, the pool of first-time Rule 5 guys is pretty shallow: Michael Cuevas (2019, HS) and Holden Powell (2020, College).
Have at it in the comments. Perhaps you can debate the Oxford comma in honor of National Punctuation Day.
Thanks Luke for another great year.
Luke, another great season. You’re my first read every morning during milb months.
Great job. The best. One of my first reads every day. Thank you.
what are we to make of De La Rosa’s season? despite being below the Mendoza line he and House are tied among “prospects” for the most extra base hits and Brady had 125 more trips to the plate.
FredMD I was having the same thought about JDL . He’s nearing flipping the light switch or not ?
Yes , Luke , CC is … hearing the fat lady singing ??
This is my favourite Nationals’ related site!! Beats MASN and other “bigwigs”. Not everyone comments, but Will, FredMD, KW and many others add interesting posts. All the info is here, without compromising “principles”!
Bill Nye article by Jessica C reminds us of this winter being possibly the time where one or two clever additions could help boost the rebuild into upper division fighters
I’ll add my voice to the appreciation chorus; this site is a “must” stop on my regular tours of the InterNats. Well done, Luke, and I look forward to the AFL and Rule 5 discussions to come.
Thanks for doing this!
Thank you Luke for everything you do. I’ll be honest, I’m not sure I could maintain the Nats artifacts that I maintain, nor follow the parts of the minors that i’m most interested in, without your work. Every year I hope you pick back up the daily posting, and every year i’m grateful when i see the first one of the season.
Oh, I’m pro oxford-comma (even if in my typing haste I often forget it), and i’m pro two spaces after periods (as you can see from this comment).
Actually, the 2021 collegiate draftees will become Rule 5-eligible this fall. So guys like Alvarez, Sinclair, Saenz, Boissiere. Plus Lara was unprotected last year but will be a slam-dunk add this year. Alvarez seems likely. Sinclair certainly has put up good numbers.
Nice picks on down the board in 2021 with Young (7th round), Baker (10th), Alvarez (12th), Sinclair (16th), and Brendan Collins (17th).
My bad — when I googled it, it said 2019 for HS and 202 for college but obviously the coffee hadn’t kicked in yet.
Nats promote Stone Garrett as Andres Chaparro goes on paternity leave.
AZ Fall League season starts on October 7. Seem to remember rosters announced by now.
I didn’t expect a “now we wait” post so soon, but posted in yesterday’s thread that it seems someone prematurely posted the AFL roster announcements, and then unpublished it. On Google, you can find the link by searching for AFL rosters, but the link is dead (https://www.mlb.com/video/2024-arizona-fall-league-rosters-announced?t=mlb-pipeline). However, it does add a tag line of “Jac Caglianone, Ethan Salas, Xavier Isaac and Colson Montgomery are among the prospects who will play in the Arizona Fall League in 2024.” Which means the rosters are settled, but MLB is waiting for a more optimal time to announce them. They should be imminent.
I am a long time Expos fan from Montreal and Nats fan since 2004 when the Expos left Montreal. Your site is the most complete site to follow the Nats minor teams. I do look into MILB scores but your site has the best comments on Nats MILB teams. And you have very good followers who added interesting comments on their posts.
Merci beaucoup and keep on the good work.
