• Millas 1-4, 2B

Two critical baserunning errors in the 4th cost the Red Wings as they fell to the Storm, 1-0 in 10 innings. The first came when Darren Baker, who had led off with a single, trying to score from 1st with nobody out on a double off the LF wall by Andrés Chaparro and easily thrown out. The second came on the very next at-bat when the far-less-fleet-of-foot Chaparro, who had taken third base on Baker’s TOOTBLAN, tried to score on on a tapper to shortstop with the infield drawn in and was thrown out in a rundown. Rochester went 0-for-9 with RISP overall, including back-to-back whiffs after Drew Millas doubled with one out in the 7th. Andrew Alvarez pitched into the 6th for the first time at AAA, allowing four hits and a walk while striking out four. Luis Reyes took the loss when Brady House’s throw in to home sailed high wide, enabling the free runner to score.

Harrisburg 9 Akron 1 – COMP.
• Saenz 2IP, 2H, 1R, 1ER, 1BB, 1K,
• S. Reyes (W, 5-2) 3IP, 0H, 0R, 0BB, 4K, WP

• Pinckney 2-3, R, 2-2B, RBI

In the completion, Harrisburg got three-spots in the 2nd and 4th and cruised to a 9-1 win over Akron. Samuel Reyes tossed three scoreless innings as the de facto starter and picked up the win. Terone Harris doubled to “lead off” the game, sending in Jeremy De La Rosa to tie the game and added two singles to go 3-for-5, a mark matched by Daylen Lile, who scored twice and drove in one to lead the Senators 15-hit parade. Dustin Saenz allowed one run on two hits and a walk in two innings before play was halted on Thursday.

Harrisburg 7 Akron 3 – GM. 2
• Lara (W, 7-4) 5IP, 3H, 3R, 3ER, 3BB, 7K, HR
• Grissom 2IP, 0H, 0R, 0BB, 2K
• Pineda 2-3, RBI
• Made 2-4, 2R
• Wilson 1-1, R, 2BB, 2B, RBI

The Senators made foie gras out of ‘Ducks starter Ross Carver, knocking him from the box with five runs in the 1st as they took the regularly scheduled game, 7-3. Andry Lara gave up all three Akron runs on three hits (one HR) and three walks over five innings. He struck out seven while pickup his seventh AA win. Israel Pineda and Kevin Made both singled twice while Jeremy De La Rosa smacked his first AA homer to power the Harrisburg offense.

Wilmington 14 Greenville 9
• Susana (W, 2-0) 5IP, 3H, 2R, 1ER, 0BB, 8K, WP, E
• M. Gomez 1IP, 0H, 0R, 0BB, 1K
• Glasser 3-4, 4R, BB, 2HR, 4RBI
• Naranjo 3-5, 3R, 2-2B
• Brown 2-5, 3R, RBI, E
• Dugas 0-2, 3BB, RBI

The Blue Rocks scored in seven of nine “ups” while scoring nearly a week’s worth of runs for a 14-9 win over the Drive. Jarlin Susana turned in five innings of two-run ball on three hits and no walks while striking out eight to win his second High-A game. Phillip Glasser homered twice and drove in four while Joe Naranjo doubled twice anc scored three times to highlight Wilmington’s 13-hit, seven-walk offense.

Fredericksburg 5 Lynchburg 4
• Sykora (W, 2-3) 5IP, 0H, 0R, 1BB, 8K
• Bollenbacher (SV, 1) 1⅔ IP, 1H, 0R, 2BB, 4K, 2-2 IR-S
• Colmenares 2-2, 2BB
• Morales 2-4, R
• Cruz 1-3, R, BB

Fredericksburg survived a late scare to even up the series with a 5-4 win over Lynchburg. Travis Sykora no-hit the Hillcats for five innings, allowing one walk and striking out eight as would get his second win. Jose Colmenares singled twice and walked twice while Yoyo Morales went 2-for-4 with a run scored to led the FredNats offense. The final run came with the help of back-to-back wild pitches after Elijah Green’s leadoff double. It would prove to be the diffrerence as Bubba Hall put on four baserunner in the 8th and all four came in to score, with the “help” of an error and a two-out, two-run double surrendered by Matt Bollenbacher. In the 9th, the 24-y.o. Virginia Beach native walked two but cordero’d around both of them to earn the save, his first as a pro.

DSL Nationals 3 DSL BLue Jays 2
• Lunar 4IP, 0H, 0R, 2BB, 5K, BK
• J. Robles (BS, 3) 2⅓ IP, 2H, 1R, 1ER, 2BB, 2K
• An. Martinez (W, 1-0) 2IP, 0H, 0R, 1BB, 1K
• Tavarez 1-3, R, BB, HR, 2RBI
• Requena 1-4, RBI, SB, E(5)

The D-Nats somehow managed to win despite five pitchers issuing nine walks and the batters collecting only three hits as they clipped the D-Jays, 3-2. Darrel Lunar went the first four and allowed no hits and two walks while striking out five. Feldi Tavarez’s two-run HR erased a 1-0 deficit but Jean Robles let in the tying run in the 8th for the blown save. Anel Martinez pitched a scoreless 10th and survived balking the tying run to third with a strikeout and Dashyll Tejada throwing out the tying run at home for his first professional win.

Not sure what Sykora has left to prove. That’s now 18 K, 0 ER, 2 BB, 3 H in 9 IP in his last two starts. He’s clearly mastered the level.

Susana and Lara also with very good outings. Looks like that trio might be the rotation of the future, and not the Cavalli-Rutledge-Henry trio that looked so good just two seasons ago…

Speaking of Cavalli, he reappeared from the wilderness 10 days ago when he was re-assigned to Wilmington, but hasn’t actually played yet. Has there been ANOTHER set back? We were all excited for him being a piece of the major league rotation this season, and it seems increasingly unlikely we’ll see him at all in the majors. Two seasons lost to injury. How frustrating.

Lastly, Phillip Glasser continues to defy expectations, and put up a fantastic season. He’s hitting .302/.388/.444 in Wilmington, but nearly two years above league average. Methinks he could use another challenge.

According to Martinez, they’ve been building up his strength after his bout with the flu.

Ok . So AJ Hinch just used this terminology about a Detroit game assignment
Instead of saying bullpen outing we should say use an opener followed by bulk arms ?

I’m with Will on Sykora. It’s stunting his growth at this point. Susana seems destined to start 2025 at Harrisburg.

Will : like the old song : … what a difference a day makes ..
the trade deadline was a reminder how brass realized the need for a couple of Starters to plug into the gaps in the farm chain .
Meanwhile Todd can catch us up on the
Developments with the Latin arms on DSL / FSL .

JDL and TJW slowly making strides forward with the hitting . Some season left on the calender to see the progression .
The 3 Ls have been a nice development for Nats ( Lord , Lara and Luckham ) let’s see if Young finds his stride in long relief
Or eventually returns to starting nods
