Rochester 5 Worcester 1
• Alvarez (W, 2-2) 5IP, 6H, 1R, 1ER, 2BB, 4K
• Salazar (H, 3) 1⅔ IP, 0H, 0R, 0BB, 2K, 1-0 IR-S
• Millas 2-4, R, 2K, SB
• Crews 2-5, 2B(5), RBI, SB
• Baker 1-4, R, BB, RBI

Rochester scored three times in the 9th to break open a one-run game and take the opener from Worcester, 5-1. Andrew Alvarez turned in five innings of one-run ball on six hits, two walks, and four whiffs to win his second AAA contest. Three relievers combined for four scoreless innings, led by Eduardo Salazar with five batters faced and five batters retired. Drew Millas singled twice and scored once while Dylan Crews singled, doubled, and drove in a run to lead the Red Wings offense.

Richmond 7 Harrisburg 6
• Cuevas (L, 2-9) 2IP, 3H, 5R, 5ER, 2BB, 2K, HBP
• Ferrer 1⅔ IP, 0H, 0R, 0BB, 0K
• Pinckney 3-4, R, BB, 2B(10), HR(5), 3RBI, E
• Arruda 2-4, 3R, BB, 2B, RBI
• Lile 2-5, R, SB

The Senators left 12 runners on base, including both the tying and go-ahead runs in the 9th, as they dropped their fifth straight, 7-6.. Michael Cuevas didn’t make it to the 3rd inning as the Flying Squirrels chewed on him for five runs on three hits and two walks to hand him his ninth loss. Andrew Pinckney reached base four times with a double and a homer; J.T. Arruda singled, doubled, walked, and scored three runs; Daylen Lile singled twice and scored once. Harrisburg went 2-for-14 with RISP.

Wilmington 5 Brooklyn 3
• Susana (W, 1-0) 5IP, 4H, 2R, 2ER, 2BB, 5K, HBP
• W. Arias (H, 1) 2IP, 0H, 0R, 1BB, 2K, BK
• Stehly 2-3, 2R
• Naranjo 2-4, R, 2RBI
• White 1-3, BB

Wilmington scored five runs by the time Jarlin Susana was lifted from the game and the bullpen let in just one over the last four to ensure a win in his High-A debut. Susana “only” struck out five and walked two as he went five innings and let in two runs. Murphy Stehly and Joe Naranjo both singled twice while T.J. White extended his hit streak to ten games with a single in the 4th.

Carolina 2 Fredericksburg 1
• Sykora 5IP, 0H, 0R, 2BB, 7K
• Denaburg (BS, 2; L, 6-2) ⅓ IP, 2H, 2R, 2ER, 2BB, 1K, WP
• Infante 1-3, R, BB
• Ochoa 1-3

Travis Sykora no-hit the Mudcats for five innings and left with a 1-0 lead, but the FredNats ‘pen faltered in the 8th to lose 2-1, ending a nine-game win streak. Sykora walked two and struck out seven over his fifth straight start of five innings. The blown-save-loss went to Mason Denaburg, who retired one of five batters faced in the 8th and let in both Carolina runs. Like an ugly stripper, Fredericksburg came away with just four singles, none with RISP. Sammy Infante was the only batter to reach base twice (one hit, one walk) and scored the lone run.

FCL Nationals 8 FCL Mets 2
• B. Romero 4IP, 3H, 0R, 1BB, 5K
• A. Ramirez 1IP, 0H, 0R, 0BB, 0K
• Mota 3-5, R
• Acevedo 2-4, R, RBI, SB(10)
• Arias 1-3, R, BB, RBI

The FCL Nationals scored in three of their first four “ups” to build a 6-0 lead and cruised to an 8-2 win over the FCL Mets. Brayan Romero tossed four scoreless innings, allowing three hits, one walk, and striking out five. The decision was given to Aldo Ramirez for his 1-2-3 fifth, which was his first win since 2019. Jorgelys Mota went 3-for-5 with a run scored while Andy Acevedo singled twice, scored once, and swiped his tenth base to lead the F-Nats attack.

DSL Nationals vs. DSL NYY Yankees – CNCLD
Rain presumably claimed this game and it will not be made up.

Brayan Romero worth anything in the future as a starter or just another intl signee like another golf ball in your sack of golf balls ??

Ryan Zeferjahn has some serious gas out of that Worchester bullpen . Just ask Pal Joey

      Todd correct again

Luke since you brought up the imagery of the ugly stripper within the context of baseball I will try and tell my story within the context of baseball ( lmao ).
Nats fans in the future when you take your first caravan to (Green Day Green Cloud Las Vegas to see the MLB AL org moved over like Raiders ) you will be advised to check out the Fremont Street experience with the zip lining and the ( Spaghetti western ) Good bad and the ugly strippers who rent a circle on the pavement to shake their goods for loose
    Currency bills .
    Luke I couldn’t resist
Oddly enough that’s another subject matter : baseball clubs transitioning .
Takes me back to the 1974 San Diego Padre ( Ray Kroc ) posturing / exploration period where he and his wife Joan looked into the empty DC/ territory . Hence the Padre team team set said Washington National League even Nate Colbert . ( more sarcasm besides ugly strippers , Luke , DC for the Padres and other clubs then district of cocaine . Drugs of Columbia ?)
I guess if this was a stand up act tomatoes and beer bottles would be thrown at this moment ).

Sykora’s game logs going from most recent backwards:
    https://www.milb.com/player/travis-sykora-805809?stats=gamelogs-r-pitching-mlb&year=2024

    – 7/9: 5ip 0h 0r 7/2 K/BB
    – 7/2: 5ip 1h 1r 9/1 K/BB
    – 6/26: 5ip 4h 2r 7/1 K/BB
    – 6/20: 5ip 1h 1r 8/2 K/BB
    – 6/13: 5ip 2h 0r 3/0 K/BB
    – 6/5: 3 2/3rdsip, 4h 2r 6/3 K/BB
    – 5/30: 4ip 1h 2r 7/1 K/BB (this was hard to do; 1h and 1bb and both scored)

You get the idea. Susana put up a month of numbers identical to this and got promoted. If the guy keeps putting up starts in low A where he goes 5ip and gives up like 1-2 hits (or none) and isn’t walking a g uy an inning (he’s not) then you have to promote him.

wonder what they see as his innings limit?

Wonder if Sykora will get the bump to Wilmington once the 2024 draft arms make their way to Fburg/FCL?

Last year Travis Sthele, Liam Sullivan, Mikey Tepper, Austin Amaral and Merrick Baldo all debuted in early August last year.

Double play pitchers best friend and Thad Ward so far today
Is his out pitch really coming on ?
Too little too late , Todd ? Probably still bullpen bound
Let’s see how TJ White keeps up the hitting streak
Hypothetically speaking , Nick Kurtz gets drafted at ten .does he debut at Fred with maybe a wishful thinking leapfrog to Wilmington ?
