Worcester 7 Rochester 6
• Ward 4⅓ IP, 5H, 5R, 5ER, 2BB, 4K, 3HR
• Cate (L, 6-2) ⅔ IP, 1H, 2R, 2ER, 1BB, 1K, HR, 1-0 IR-S, PO @ 1B
• Call 2-4, 2RBI
• Lindsly 2-4
• Crews 1-3, BB, HBP, SB
The Red Wings got three in the 1st and three in the 5th, but couldn’t push across a seventh run and fell to the (ugh) Woo Sox, 7-6. Two extra days of rest made no difference as Thad Ward did his usual 5th-innng exit after giving up five runs on three homers and five hits total over four and a 1/3rd innings. He walked two and struck out four. The loss went to Tim Cate on two-run HR while getting the last two outs of the 5th. Alex Call and Brady Lindsly both singled twice while Dylan Crews reached base three times on walk, hit-by-pitch, and a single as the Rochester offense converted nine singles and four walks into six runs, going 4-for-8 with eight runners left on base.
Richmond 5 Harrisburg 0
• Luckham (L, 3-6) 5⅓ IP, 11H, 5R, 5ER, 0BB, 4K, HBP
• Sinclair 1⅔ IP, 2H, 0R, 1BB, 2K, 2-1 IR-S
• D. Garcia 2-3, BB
• Wilson 1-3, OF assist @ HP
Harrisburg got five singles and three walks and had none of them cross the plate as Richmond handed them their 10th shutout, 5-0. Kyle Luckham gave up all five Flying Squirrel runs on 11 hits over five and a 1/3rd innings. He walked none, struck out four, and hit a batter. Dérmis Garcia singled twice and walked once while Cody Wilson, Daylen Lile, and Cortland each had one hit to round out the Senators hit column.
Wilmington 6 Brooklyn 2
• Cáceres (W, 3-6) 5IP, 6H, 0R, 2BB, 4K, PO @ 1B
• M. Perez (H, 4) 1⅓ IP, 1H, 0R, 0BB, 1K
• White 2-3, R, 2RBI
• M. Romero 1-2, 2R, BB, 2B
• De La Rosa 1-4, 2B(10), 2RBI
A five-run seventh put the Blue Rocks in the driver’s seat—minus any jiving since it was only Wednesday night—as they tripled up the Cyclones, 6-2. Bryan Cáceres scattered six hits over five scoreless innings with two walks and four whiffs to pick up his third win. T.J. White (two singles) and Jeremy De La Rosa (double) while Max Romero walked, doubled, and scored twice to power the Wilmington offense.
Carolina vs. Fredericksburg – PPD
The band of heavy thunderstorms that stretched from I-81 from Lynchburg to Leesburg came rolling eastward in Fredericksburg just in time to postpone last night’s game. They’ll shoot to make it up tonight.
TJ White now has 17 hits in his last 11 games. He was so deep in the hole that his BA is still only .187 after the spurt, but he’s certainly trending in a positive direction.
20 hits total in his first 50 games and 188 plate appearances.
17 hits in his past 11 games (44 plate appearances).
White is without a doubt the streakiest player I’ve ever witnessed. He was doing this boom-and-bust routine in each past season, the only difference was the boom phases came up a lot more regularly than this year (this is his first good spell in over 3 months).
White gives me some hope that if he can just harness whatever he does in these boom phases and do it regularly, then he could be an amazing player. But, man, it can’t take 3 months or absolutely abysmal play before find this hot streak….
J.T. Arruda is on line one…

Luckham and Cate .
The Panamanian actually pitched better than Luckham who I thought faced a Punch and Judy Flying Squirrels lineup
What do we look forward late season?
The amateur draftees parked at
FRED now that FCL closes down a week or so after draft
This draft HAS to score on some everyday players who could launch their Nats careers at FRED.
hopefully the FNats will see some significant improvement from the younger hitters. seven players currently 20 yr old and younger are all struggling. the group as a whole is showing decent patience but just not hitting.
Solesky eyes on the next lengthened swing man starter .
Hand jive, Luke ?

Todd you’ve been spot on with your accessments
The Nats need to try something with Thad Ward. Yesterday’s outing was UGLY and could have been even worse than 5 ER in 4.1 IP, having served up 3 HR in that span. Whether it’s moving him to the bullpen or demoting him to AA, I don’t care do much, but trotting him out there every 5 days and hoping something changes clearly isn’t working.
Patience everybody, T.J. White is still very young.
Andrew Pinckney is 2nd in the system in hits with 83.
Keith Law’s mock that dropped today should make most on here happy:
10. Washington Nationals: Trey Yesavage, RHP, East Carolina
The Nats are at the mercy of the board a little bit; the way I’ve lined it up in this scenario has all of the obvious college guys gone by this pick, so they’re looking at the next tier, with Yesavage, Waldschmidt, Christian Moore, etc., along with Griffin as a longshot (I doubt they’d go that direction again given 2022 first-round pick
Previous post cut off.
Supposed to end with “Elijah Green’s struggles.”
