Rochester 7 Buffalo 6 (10 inn.)
• Lord 5⅔ IP, 5H, 2R, 2ER, 0BB, 6K, 2HBP
• Medina (BS, 2) 1IP, 2H, 4R, 4ER, 2BB, 1K, HR(GS)
• Willingham (W, 2-3) 2IP, 1H, 0R, 0BB, 3K, HBP
• Kieboom 3-5, R,
• Garrett 2-4, R, BB, HR, RBI
• Lindsly 2-5, R, 2B, HR, 2RBI

After blowing a 4-2 lead in the 8th, Rochester got solo HRs from Brady Lindsly in the 8th and Alex Call in the 9th to tie the game and send it to extras where Rochester was able to complete the comeback for a 7-6 win and extend their win streak to five games. Brad Lord bounced back from Monday’s poor showing to pitch into the 6th with two runs let in on five hits, with no walks, two hit batsmen, and six whiffs. Adonis Medina sandwiched a double in between two walks, then gave up a grand slam for the blown save. Amos Willingham finished the game with two scoreless to earn his second win. Roster moves: IF Trey Lipscomb recalled to Washington.

Altoona 13 Harrisburg 12
• S. Reyes 2IP, 3H, 4R, 3ER, 2BB, 1K, HR
• Grissom 2IP, 1H, 0R, 0BB, 0K
• Acosta (L, 2-2) 3BF, 1H, 1R, 0ER, IBB, 0K
• Lile 2-3, 3BB, 2B, R
• Lawson 3-5, 3R, BB
• Witt 3-6, 3R, 2-2B, E
• Arruda 2-5, R, BB, 2B, 4RBI

The Senators scored a week’s worth of runs in one game, but it still wasn’t enough as the Curve prevailed in extras, 13-12. Samuel Reyes was the opener and was hammered for four runs on three hits (one HR) and two walks. Harrisburg took him off the hook with runs in the middle innings to take a 5-4 lead, but fell behind again, 7-5 before scoring five in the 9th to go up 12-10. Carlos Romero would have been the winning pitcher but gave two runs back to send it to extras, where the Curve loaded the bases with nobody. The Sens pulled in Terone Harris from the outfield for a five-man infield and the ball found him but he couldn’t get it out of his glove as the winning run scored without a throw.

Jersey Shore 7 Wilmington 6
• Cornelio (L, 6-7) 5IP, 7H, 7R, 7ER, 1BB, 3K, 4HR, HBP
• Schultz 1IP, 0H, 0R, 0BB, 3K
• Thomas 3-4, R, 2-2B, RBI, CS(5)
• White 2-4, R, 2B(10), 2RBI
• V. Peña 2-5, R, 2B, 2RBI

Wilmington dug itself an early 4-0 hole and couldn’t climb out as they dropped the series finale, 7-6. Riley Cornelio gave up four home runs and seven hits total, allowing all seven Jersey Shore runs while walking one and striking out three. Thomas Schultz, Jaren Zinn, and Chance Huff each turned in a scoreless inning in relief. Johnathan Thomas singled once and doubled twice while T.J. White’s resurgence (9G hit streak) continued with a single, double, and two RBI to power the Blue Rocks counterattack.

Fredericksburg 8 Delmarva 3
• Polanco 5IP, 6H, 2R, 2ER, 2BB, 1K
• Arguelles (BS, 1; W, 2-0) 1IP, 1H, 1R, 0ER, 1BB, 2K
• Rombach 2-3, R, BB, RBI
• Pimentel 2-5, 2B(15), RBI
• Cooper 1-3, R, 2BB

The FredNats completed the six-game sweep with an 8-3 win over the Shorebirds. Delmarva tied the game at 3-3 with a run in the 7th, which took the “W” away from Bryan Polanco after he turned in five innings of two-run ball on six hits and two walks with one whiff. Anthony Arguelles would get the blown-save-win when Fredericksburg reclaimed the lead with one in the 8th, then put it away with four in the 9th. Nate Romach reached three times with two singles and a walk while Brandon Pimentel singled an doubled to lead the FredNats eight-hit parade. Roster moves: OF Brenner Cox activated from the 7-Day I.L.

FCL Mets 11 FCL Nationals 2
• A. Ramirez (L, 0-1) 1⅔ IP, 1H, 3R, 3ER, 3BB, 3K
• Bloebaum ⅔ IP, 1H, 0R, 0BB, 1K
• Marcano 1-3, 2RBI
• K. Diaz 1-3, 2B, 2E(5)

Aldo Ramriez’s second start since emerging from witness protection wasn’t much better than the first, as he gave up three runs on three walks and a hit over an inning and 2/3rds in an 11-2 loss to the FCL Mets. A dishonorable mention goes to Doimil Perez, who let in all three runners he inherited from Ramirez while giving up five more runs on six hits (one HR) and a walk while striking out two. Agustin Marcano drove in two in his stateside debut while Kelvin Diaz double and committed error nos. four and five. Roster moves: RHP Mikey Tepper assigned from Fredericksburg for MiLB rehab.

DSL Tigers Two 5 DSL Nationals 1
• Ju. Reyes (L, 0-1) ⅔ IP, 1H, 3R, 3ER, 2BB, 1K
• Thomas 4⅓ IP, 2H, 1R, 1ER, 3BB, 2K, BK, 2-2 IR-S
• Hurtado 1-3, R, HR, RBI
• D. Hernandez 1-3

The D-Tigers2 got three in the 1st and never looked back as they handed the D-Nats their 15th loss, 5-1. 19-y.o. Juan Reyes walked two and gave up a hit while getting two outs before he was lifted for Jhoan Thomas, who let in both inherited runners while getting out of the 1st, then pitched four innings of one-hit ball. Victor Hurtado took one step closer to getting off the interstate with his second homer while Diego Hernandez and Eddy Marmolejos both had a single to round out the three-hit barrage for the DSL Nationals.

there have been some good/great stories on the development of Nats pitching prospects so far and Brad Lord continues to put his name in the mix. facing a good hitting Buffalo club for the second time in a week, he walks none and strikes out 6 in 5.2 innings. he is fun to watch, hardly ever wastes a pitch and competes like he knows an 18th rounder doesn’t get second chances. way to go young man!

Echoing Will, Brady House is now a Red Wing!

Interesting. Guys hitting .234 don’t usually get promoted. He’s had terrible BABIP “luck,” but he also hasn’t shown a lot of patience at the plate.

As I discussed yesterday, I still believe in House’s ceiling, but patience seems to be in order.

Yeah, I generally wish the org was a bit bolder and quicker with its promotions, but House to AAA isn’t something I’ve been hoping for. House has been struggling massively over the past 1-2 months, which suggests he’s far from mastering AA. But I’m not unhappy about it! I think just moving to the hitter friendly Int’l League may kind of neutralize his struggles anyway.

Now get Cronin there too. The Nats’ otherwise solid bullpen has been falling apart in recent weeks, and some of the steadiest arms may begin disappearing… we’ll need all the reserves we can get in Rochester!
