Joey Meneses’s Earl Weaver Special broke open a one-run game as Rochester stopped a two-game skid with a 10-6 win over Lehigh Valley. Thad Ward went five full innings for the first time in six starts, allowed three runs (two earned) on four hits (no HR) and five walks, and struck out three to win his fifth game. Carter Kieboom was the beer man as the Red Wings smelted IronPigs pitchers for 13 hits, led by Travis Blankenhorn with a single, two homers, and five RBI while Drew Millas and Brady House both reached base three times on two safeties and a base-on-balls.

The Yard Goats posted a picket fence in the early innings and went deep in the 9th to walk off the Senators, 4-3. Samuel Reyes opened the game and let in two runs on four hits (one HR) and a walk. The loss went to Daison Acosta as Braiden (not a typo) Ward put a coat on a hanger and deposited the third pitch of the 9th into the RF seats. Paul Witt drove in all three runs on two-run homer in the 7th and a dribbler to the mound in the 9th that enabled Jeremy De La Rosa, who led off the 9th with a triple, to scamper home.

Wilmington got three runs early and seven strong innings from José Atencio to beat Hudson Valley for the third time this series, 5-2. Atencio allowed the first Renegades run on four hits and three walks while striking out three. It was third time this season he pitched seven full and his fifth quality start. Max Romero and Murphy Stehly both went deep while Phillips Glasser added his 15th double at A+ (22nd overall) and Roismar Quintana singled and walked in his High-A debut.

The Shorebirds continued to be the Generals to the Globetrott…er, FredNats as four Fredericksburg pitchers combined to shut out Delmarva, 5-0 on four hits. Dustin Saenz got 12 outs on 39 pitches as he allowed one hit, no walks, and struck out four. Austin Amaral picked up the win with two hits given up over the next three frames. It was a Star Trek convention on the scoreboard until the FredNats sent nine men to the plate in the 6th and plated four of ’em with three singles and two errors. Brenner Cox singled, doubled, and scored twice while Cristhian Vaquero and Armando Cruz both singled twice with Vaquero driving in two to pace the Fredericksburg offense.

The DSL Nationals collected six hits but drew seven walks, stole eight bases, got hit by a pitch twice, and scored four times on wild pitches, including twice in the 11th to take an 8-6 lead. Alas, Jose Sanchez was dinged for three runs in the bottom of the 11th to get walked off, 9-8. Alejandro Vera got the start and was knocked around for three runs on two hits and six walks con cero ponchadas. Jeffrey Familia pitched four scoreless from the 6th tothe 9th to force extras. Juan Obispo and Manuel Cabrera were the only two D-Nats batter to have multiple hits, with Obispo reaching base five times on two singles, two walks, and a Robles.
