Rochester Red Wings, 29-26, 3rd place I.L. East, 10GB
The Red Wings head east on I-90 to play the (ugh) Woo Sox for six with a matinee tomorrow. Rochester moved up two spots to third place but fell two games further back with another 4-3 series win.
Harrisburg Senators, 30-21, T1st E.L. Southwest, 1GA
Harrisburg split its series with Binghamton but remains tied with Akron for first place. This week, the Senators make their way from upstate New York to play Reading for the first of only two series with their intra-state rivals in 2024.
Wilmington Blue Rocks, 24-25, 6th place Sally Lg. North, 4½ GB
The Blue Rocks return home after two weeks on the road to the hinterlands of the Sally League, having split its last series against the Hot Rods and a 2-4 mark against the Emperors. This week, it’s eight against Hudson Valley with doubleheaders tomorrow and Saturday to make up for rainouts on May 4th and 5th.
Frdericksburg Nationals, 28-22, T2nd C.L. North, 4GB
Back-to-back series losses by a 2-4 count coupled with Lynchburg getting hot (8 of 10) and Carolina staying hot (riding a six-game win streak) has dropped Fredericksburg four games back and into a tie for 2nd place. Things don’t get any easier, as the league-leading (#1 offense, #1 pitching, #3 fielding) Cannon Ballers shoot into the ‘Burg for six, then it’s another trip down I-95 to face the Mudcats next week.
FCL Astors vs. FCL Nationals – PPD
Unlike southern California, it rains all the time in southern Florida. With the two teams already scheduled to play each other today, making this one up will be easy.
DSL Twins 0 DSL Nationals 0 – SUSP.
• Feliz 3IP, 0H, 0R, 1BB, 2K
• Marmolejos 1-1
Rain stopped this one in the middle of the 3rd inning. They’ll make it up on tomorrow, weather permitting.
it could be a very good week of baseball watching with all the extra action in A+.
Cronin has gotten off to a good start albeit with limited usage. time to take the gloves off and see if he’s worthy of a return to AAA.
Cavalli may get 4-5 innings if he can manage his pitch count.
Lile and JDLR coming in hot, keep it going boys.
please put Glasser at third every chance possible, Witt and McHenry have done nothing to earn the spot
Fred MD Lile and JDL hot making
Playing fun for V. P.
I can recall when lower level affiliates were so stacked with right handed bats back in the day .
Now each level seems to have a nice balance of lefty , righty and even switch hitters like Nick Peoples .
RIP , Tony Scott . When GMs made big group trades . Not the puddly player for cash .
He did fetch Andujar from the Astros for STL.
Ugh Trevor fore arm strain
Bullpen movement upward , fans .
Shuman health and progress , Lad
I wonder if Buck Rodgers smiles put in the OC seeing Delino with his Senators in playoff position early in the EL season
One of these days Sandy Martinez will trot out in the OF : Paul , Liriano and Paul .
Feliz in the DSL with 3 no-hit innings already gives a better pitching performance than the team saw all last summer.
Hurtado in LF to start, Angel Felix starting SS for our two big bonus kids from Jan 2024. Our two big bonus guys from 2023 were Acevedo (promoted to FCL and starting in CF) and Solano (on the bench in DSL; awesome).
D.J. Herz just got called up to Washington and will start tonight. The Parker and Herz arc continues.
Pretty exciting!
That’s unexpected! As good as Herz has been the past three games, he’s had a pretty disastrous season so far. 29 BB in 36 innings is worrisome, to put it mildly.
But here’s to hoping to goes well!
Wilmington being just a half game under .500 astounds me when looking at the team stats. Batting: .210/.304/.299. Pitching: 4.19 ERA, 1.43 WHIP. Pythagoras says they should be 21-28. Of the 22 listed hitters, 13 are on the interstate.
Speed never sleeps at Grand Canyon as Whitey Herzog would say
Shuman bump up to Fred on rehab must have caused a juggling of starting assignments this week
