A bunch of good games to highlight here, but the best one isn’t listed: DJ Herz was magnificent yesterday. The MASN broadcasters weren’t shy about making comparisons to Stras’s famous debut, and they weren’t wrong. Herz was so in command of basically every pitch, the only time the Marlins had a chance was when he was pulled from the game on 86 pitches.
It was truly a Jekyllian performance from Herz, whereas there was more of a touch of Mr. Hyde in his previous two games. Whatever magic Doolittle has worked with Parker, the exact same thing needs to be done with Herz (it’s pretty remarkable the similarities between the two players), and I hope yesterday was the first signs of whatever that magic is sinking in.
Sunday Sthele BP , Luke
Congrats to Jordy Barley for his game winning RBI bunt single. He caught everybody by surprise.
So Delino ! Barley bunt single
I sensed Rizzo would scoop up Harold Ramirez .
Is JR circling around the mound , Fred MD today ?? Lol
I was at the game yesterday, and thoroughly enjoyed Herz’s speedy work. Combined with the Nats’ “hurry up” offense (working the opposing pitcher is just not their thing) the game took just over two hours to play.
As always, I am amused at how eager many Nats fans are to ascribe anything good that the Nats pitchers do to Doolittle, and anything bad to Hickey and Davey. I get it; we LIKE Doo, and I do think that he’s been a valuable addition to the team of pitching coaches.
