Worcester scored in seven of eight “ups” in a 13-4 defenestration of Rochester. Andrew Alvarez lost his AAA ebut with six runs charged to him on five hits, five walks, and two hit batsmen. Alex Call singled, walked three times, and stole a base while Carter Kieboom had two safeties, one base-on-balls, to pace the Red Wings’ counterattack.

Reading 9 Harrisburg 1
• Cuevas (L, 1-4) 1+ IP, 5H, 6R, 6ER, 3BB, 1K, HR, HBP, 48-24 PIT-K
• C. Romero 2IP, 2H, 0R, 0BB, 4K
• Stubbs 1-2, R, BB, HR, RBI
• D. Garcia 1-3

The Fightin’ got two in the 1st and six in the 2nd, then cruised to a 9-1 win over the Senators. Michael Cuevas was knocked from the box with nobody out in the 2nd after a double-walk-double-homer sequence. He was charged with six runs on five hits and three walks and a hit batsmen while striking out one. C.J. Stubbs ended the shutout and the no-hitter with a solo HR in the 8th while Dérmis singled in the 8th to round out the Harrisburg hit column.

Hudson Valley 8 Wilmington 3 – GM. 1
• Theophile (L, 1-4) 3IP, 6H, 7R, 6ER, 1BB, 5K, HR, HBP

• Harris 2-3, 2R, HR, RBI
• M. Romero 2-3, 2B, RBI

Hudson Valley rallied for four in the 2nd and three in the 3rd as they cruised past Wilmington, 8-3 in the opener. Rodney Theophile was savaged for seven runs on six hits (one HR) over three innings. He walked one and struck out five while losing his fourth game. Terone Harris went deep for the first time this season and added a single while Max Romero singled and doubled and drove in one to lead the Blue Rocks offense.

Wilmington 4 Hudson Valley 0
• Brzykcy 1IP, 0H, 0R, 0BB, 1K
• W. Arias (W, 3-0) 3IP, 1H, 0R, 2BB, 4K
• Made 2-3, R, 2-2B, SB
• Lile 2-3, 2B, HBP

Four Blue Rocks relievers combined to shut out the Renegades, 4-0 on one hit to split the doubleheader. Zach Brzykcy “started” and set the side down in order on eight pitches. Wander Arias went the next three, allowing the lone Hudson Valley hit (a double) while walking two and striking out four to win his third game. Wilmington collected nine hits but only three came in 15 RISP chances, the denominator inflated by four walks and five steals. Kevin Made doubled twice, Daylen Lile once, and Phillip Glasser swiped two of the five bases.

The FredNats took another spin down the drain with their fifth straight loss, 9-3 to the Cannon Ballers. Seth Shuman “worked on some stuff” for two innings, giving up three runs (one earned) on two hits and two walks. He struck out two while taking the loss. Fredericksburg drew seven walks and not one of them came around to score as the offense was limited to five singles, led by Roismar Quintana with two in four trips to the plate. Roster moves: OF Jared McKenzie, IF Sammy Infante reassigned from the FCL for MiLB rehab.

FCL Marlins 5 FCL Nationals 4
• B. Romero 3IP, 1H, 1R, 0ER, 0BB, 1K, WP, BK

• Rombach 2-3, 2BB
• Peoples 1-3, R, BB, 3B, RBI

With one run let in the 8th and three coughed the 9th, the FCL Nationals’ bullpen snatched a 5-4 loss from the jaws of a 4-1 win. Brayan Romero allowed one unearned run over three innings on one hit. The blown-save-loss was hung on Adam Bloebaum with three stright hits allowed to three batters in the last of the 9th. Nate Rombach singled twice and walked twice while Nick “Power to the” People walked, scored a run, and hit an RBI triple to power the F-Nats attack.

DSL Arizona Red 3 DSL Nationals 0

The D-Nats were no-hit by the D-Arizona Red squad for a 3-0 loss. Jose Hernandez took the loss on one run let in on two hits and four walks over two and 2/3rds innings. Angel Feliz drew a one-out walk in the 1st, Eddy Marmolejos reached on an error in the 8th, and Feldi Tavarez drew a pinch walk in the 9th for the DSL Nationals’ three baserunners.

Time for TJ White to slide back to 1 b for Blue Claws …

I’m afraid it’s time for TJ to slide back to Fredericksburg, I don’t see the value of 0-fers every night. plus it will give him time with one of the new hitting coaches

A Carter Kieboom sighting! He’s having a decent season at the plate, with the notable exception that his power has completely dried up. Yet they keep playing him at corner INF spots, and DH, with only two homers in 41 games.

Sadly, it’s looking more and more like Spencer was the nationals find in the Kieboom family. At least he was above replacement as a later round pick.

Not too much later — Spencer was a 5th rounder who got $200,000 to sign. He got 125 ABs in the majors. Tony Renda (2d round) got 60 (but none with the Nats). They were the only picks aside from Giolito from the 2012 class to even get a cup of coffee.
