We were unable to confirm if tempers flared when the FCL Mets went for two after their second touchdown in a 1-0, one-hit shutout of the FCL Nationals. Reminder: The regular season ends on July 25. The Rule 4 Draft is July 14 – 16. The start date for the DSL is still TBD. Adjust your expectations accordingly.
Was there no corresponding addition in Wilmington after Brown’s demotion?
I noticed Gavin Dugas hasn’t played since last Friday. He’d have been the natural replacement for Brown, but it appears he’s dealing with a shadow injury.
That’s the surefire sign that it was indeed a demotion vs. being sent down to make room.
Punch me again folks ! Am I dreaming seeing Nats @ .500 with R
Trevor Williams giving us another 5 IP ?
We should take 5 IP as the modern 7 IP from the work horse 1970 s with guys like Palmer , Kaat , Wood and Woody Fryman Gibson .
Did I put a hex on the Blue Jay AA pitcher by calling him a tough customer last night ?? Lol
there are workhorses and then there is Wilbur Wood, he’s in a class by himself
Do knuckleballers count?!!!
Herz can find the interstate better than the strike zone in 3 rd IP
Knuckleballers do count
Go figure : Roch wastes Woods two taters
FCL rally’s behind Juan Garcias Hay day
I predict more of these lopsided scorelines in the FCL…
There was a tweet two days ago noting how the Nats were 17-17 with a 100 OPS+ and 100 ERA+. The perfectly average team.
Well to continue this 100 trend, Mason Denaburg too is strangely consistent (but for the wrong reasons). He has now thrown 109 IP in his career. In that span he has walked 101 batters, struck out 100 batters, allowed 113 hits, and allowed 107 runs. Yesterday, he earned his first save. Congrats! And congrats too to the FNats’ manager for successfully pulling off such a brazen move!
Tim Cate is having an interesting year, eh?
He’s pitched in 10 games at Rochester. In eight of those games he’s gone 10 1/3 innings, struck out 12 and hasn’t given up an ER.
His other two appearances? 2/3 (TOTAL) IP and 12 ERs…
To say Marcus Brown was struggling with High A pitching is an understatement. His OPS there was .351!
Speaking of, Elijah Green has 94 P.A. and 52 K’s!
Many say he is a gifted athlete, but maybe not a gifted baseball player.
I’ve had many conversations with scouts and coaches that boil down to “he’s got the tools but not the skills” (Not referring to Green — just a general observation, and it’s across multiple sports)
The only silver lining to Green’s terrible play is that most of the other guys taken around him in the 2022 draft have been bad too (though not as bad as Green).
2. Druw Jones: plagued by serious injuries, line of .246/.356/.348
3. Kumar Rocker: plague by serious injuries (but is that surprising?), thrown only 28 IP, but solid numbers when healthy (3.86 ERA, 13.5 K/9)
4. Termarr Johnson: bat not looking anywhere close to how polished it was supposed to be, .230/.407/.398
5. Green: most talented whiffer in baseball, .216/.335/.346
6. Jacob Berry: showing none of the contact or power he did in college, .225/.288/.361
It’s pretty nuts, because 2022 was meant to be one of the strongest and deepest drafts in a long time. There’s still a bunch of top 100 prospects from this draft, it’s just strange that most of them were chosen in the late 1st round than in the top 10.
Thanks for the details!
Zach Neto has the highest MLB WAR of any player in the 2022 draft. The player with the 2nd highest MLB WAR from that draft is Trey Lipscomb.
Crews quietly trending in the right direction.
Cluff actually homered to go with a single, he’s making the most of his latest/last chance. still think he’s the best defensive player in the system.
Luke Young vs Samuel Aldegheri in less than an hour. tough match-up for the Rocks left handed batters.
good to see Cronin back in action. he looked healthy and sharp, the same can’t be said for the defense played behind him.
