Lehigh Valley rallied for three in both the 5th and 6th innings to double up Rochester, 6-3. Jackson Rutledge gacve up all six runs on eight hits and two walks over five and 2/3rds innnings. He struck out four in his third loss. Travis Blankenhorn and Carter Kieboom both hit solo HRs while Trey Lipscomb and Stone Garrett had two singles apiece to lead the Red Wings offense. Roster moves: RHP Orlanda Ribalta promoted from Harrisburg.

The Senators and RubberDucks were rained out. They’ll shoot to make it up this afternoon with a doubleheader at 4:30 p.m. Roster moves: UT Paul Witt reassigned from Wilmington.

Two Rome pitchers combined to shut out Wilmington, 4-0 on four hits. Rodney Theophile lost for the second time, giving the first Emperors run on two hits and three walks while striking out two. Viandel Peña reached base three times on a single and two walks while Phillip Glasser connected for the Blue Rocks’ only extra-base hit, a double in the 7th with one out.

The overworked FredNats bullpen couldn’t hold a 5-2 lead after six and fell apart in the 12th for a 10-6 loss to the Hillcats. Marc Davis tied his season high with four innings pitched, though he allowed two runs on six hits and a walk while striking out three. Merrick Baldo coughed up the lead in regulation with three runs in the 7th on two singles, a sac fly, and a homer. Christhian Vaquero led off the 8th with a triple and watched the next three batters strand him there. Mason Denaburg, who three a season-high three innings on Wednesday, was gouged for five runs (four earned) on two hits, one walk, and one Robles with the “help” of an error that prolonged the inning. Jose Colmenares led the Fredericksburg hit column with three singles, followed by Nate Ochoa with a single and a double, and Vaquero with the aforementioned triple and a single.
FCL Nationals, 6-8, 4th FCL East, 4GB
The FCL Nationals doubled their win total by winning three of four games, perhaps not coincidentally all in West Palm Beach. This week it’s a full slate, with two trips to Jupiter to the play the FCL Marlins tomorrow and Friday, a third “road” game on Thursday, and home games Tuesday, Wednesday, and Saturday against the FCL Cardinals, FCL Marlins, and the FCL Mets, respectively.
Congrats to Orlanda Ribalta on well deserved promotion to Rochester. As Will said yesterday there were multiple pitchers deserving.
