Some really encouraging starts yesterday across multiple levels.
Here’s to hoping Herz’s recent reining in of his control continues to last. That’s now three straight starts with solid to good control. The swing-and-miss was always there, but he’s taken it back to new levels now with 23 K in 15 IP in those 3 starts (and a 1.76 ERA).
Great to see Cavalli quickly working his way back up the farm ladder. The control wasn’t there, but his still still works, as he didn’t give up a hit.
Lastly, great to see Sykora looking like the prospect he was hyped to be. Unlucky to allow 2 runs when he only allowed 2 baserunners in total in his outing.
A special shout out to Amos Willingham, who started the season poorly, but has found a groove. He’s now gone 8 straight games (10.1 IP) without allowing a run, and allowing only 2 hits in total. Not sure how much longer Rainey can last on the big league roster or someone else gets injured before then, but Willingham has earned being the first choice arm to be promoted.
A fan of Herz, the intriguing erratic lefty!!!!!
Lefty’s are erratic but that’s what happens with a change up and other pitch options
Smiling like a Cheshire Cat , CC , seeing you up at A plus
Cue the song CC rider
Oh the weather today !!!
Enjoy
Fred MD how ya doing ?
On the other side of the plate, Crews, Pinckney, Lile and Glasser each went deep. After an adjustment to A+ pitching, Glasser is now batting .275/.408/.413 in Wilmington. Looks like we could have solid prospect on our hands. Same for Crews. After an April to forget, Crews is batting .288/.366/.513 in May. This is just the kind of adjustments you’d want/expect to see from an elite prospect like him.
Glasser may be bound for City Isle at the expense of Arruda. JT has been a good soldier but has 600 ABs at the level and Glasser has no business playing LF at higher levels.
Fred MD you truly have your pineal gland open
You called the Orlando promotion
Trevor Williams should command a descent prospect in July trade deadline
Not an impressive performance by Cavalli. The Ks were good, as was his velo. But, walks, HBP, and WP raise concerns about his command. He’ll have to do much better before the Nats allow him to face MLB hitters.
agree that he looked a little rusty, got most of his swings and misses on his off speed stuff as the fastball command has to be better.
another walk free appearance from Cronin, time to start bringing him in more frequently
Travis Sykora making his first appearance on my leaderboard.
Would like to see Brady House get it going again.
Is there any love for Andry Lara in prospect rankings?
