Terrific writeup of pitcher Tyler Schoff by Mick Reinhard. An Undrafted free agent, in 8 appearances and 11 innings Schoff has an ERA of 0.00 at Harrisburg.

Indeed, great read! Schoff has quietly begun to garner even the prospect watchers’ attention. FanGraphs and Baseball America both noted Schoff in their honorable mention articles in the past year. Quite a feat for an undrafted free agent!

His stuff definitely plays, and having spent a significant chunk of 2023 succeeding in Harrisburg, he doesn’t have much more to prove. In general, though, on the last day of April, I think a very big minor league re-rostering should be coming imminently. There’s no shortage of guys who looked completely overmatched at their level, and several handfuls of player repeating levels, who look undermatched and needing a stiffer test. Hope we’ll see this happen soon.

Great read! Thanks for posting. Yeah, he’s old for his level and isn’t overpowering (his WHIP, K% and BB% are OK but not great) but he’s still working on his dream, getting outs. I’ll be rooting for him.

Any word on Matt Cronin’s whereabouts? He’s listed as “active”, but hasn’t been seen since May of 2023! Is this one of those unannounced retirements? Did Cronin have TJ and it went unreported? (If so, why insist on labeling him as active, when they’ve designated Atencio, just to name one player, as out for the season?)

      Cronin had back surgery

I was really high on Cronin, thought he would be in the majors within a couple of seasons. Alas, between injuries and the COVID year, he’s only logged 118.1 innings as a pro since being drafted in 2019. In his last healthy season (2022) he was very good, including being untouchable at AA.

fingers crossed that he’ll be emerging soon from the Hanrahan group of recovering hurlers. along with Cavalli, Brzykcy maybe Aldo Ramirez there could be some positives to come in ’24 from the pitching side of player development.

Matt Cronin has been rehabbing in WPB and is now headed for Wilmington. He is fully healthy and is working to get his velo back up.

I guess we’re going to have Victor and Dylan swapping hamstring stories this week. at least they’ll get some real baseball weather.

I’m looking for Hassell to have a big week.

Per MASN, Victor rehabbing at Rochester.

Victor is rehabbing for some other MLB team; Jacob Young is the younger better player.
