Rochester vs. Buffalo – PPD
Rain and high winds postponed Friday night’s game between the Red Wings and the Bisons. They’ll make it up this afternoon with a doubleheader, weather permitting. Roster moves: RHP Amos Willingham recalled to Washington; C Drew Millas optioned from Washington.

Harrisburg vs. Altoona – PPD
SSDD for Harrisburg and Altoona as rain washed them out for a second straight night. With a doubleheader already scheduled for today, they’ll have to make this one up at later date – most likely when the two teams meet at City Isle between April 30 and May 5.

The Blue Rocks and IronBirds combined to walk 25 batters but Wilmington was slightly less futile with RISP – 5-22 vs. 1-14 – enabling them to beat Aberdeen, 9-4. Bryan Caceres went the first four innings, walking four, but giving up only one hit. Marlon Perez and Carlos Romero both gave up two runs, issuing six walks combined before Dannel Diaz was able to stop the damage, charged with a blown save despite rolling a double play ball with the bases loaded and nobody out in the 6th, then striking out the next batter to end the threat. Wilmington got him the “W” with a five-run 7th, highlighted by a two-out, two-run double by Marcus Brown. Matt Suggs gave the Blue Rocks an early 3-0 lead with an Earl Weaver special in the 1st and also singled and scored two runs while Branden Boisserie singled twice, scored twice, and walked once to lead the Wilmington offense.

Fredericksburg was unable to outhit their mistakes, falling for the first time to an almost-as-sloppy Lynchburg, 12-7. Gabriel Agostini’s first Low-A start was one to forget as the 19-y.o. southpaw was scratched for nine runs on seven hits and four walks over two and a 1/3rd innings. Jose Atencio got the “assist” as he let in all three inherited runners and two of his own over three and 2/3rds innings. Elijah Green and Nate Ochoa both homered while Phillip Glasser singled twice and walked once to lead the FredNats attack.

  1. Surprisingly good start to the season from Made. Literally no positives to take away from last season, but he seems to have wiped that from his memory this year. His OBP now sits at .481, a mere .249 point jump from last season’s .232.

    Good to see Green hit a HR. We’re going to need a lot more of those than the 7 he hit through his first 100 games.

    Good luck to Willingham. Hope like Made, he’s also wiped 2023 from his memory.

  3. Given that the NYPL is no longer around, what’s an appropriate age for Low A? There are a bunch of 24-year-olds there, but it looks like the ones that are hitting well were all 2023 draftees, so not necessarily any other options?
