Darren Baker broke up the no-hitter with a leadoff singled in the third for the one and only hit by Rochester. The Red Wings were unable convert any of their ten walks drawn, going a woeful 0-for-8 with RISP and a leaving 11 baserunners on base. Roster moves: RHP Amos Willingham optioned from Washington.

• House 1-4, R, BB, RBI
Dylan Crews’s grand slam in the 8th turned a 5-2 lead into a 9-2 ass-kicking as Harrisburg took the series finale, 10-2. Brad Lord fell one out shy of qualifying for the win as he scattered eight hits over four and 2/3rds innings and allowed two runs, no walks, and struck out seven. Instead, Ty Tice got the “W” as he got the last out of the 5th and worked around a Robles in the 6th. Andrew Pinckney led the Senators hit parade with four singles – his first career four-hit game – while Crews added two singles and scored three times in Harrisburg’s first ten-run game since last August.

Unfortunately, the IronBirds strafed Riley Cornelioo and Marlon Perez for seven runs in the 1st as they took the game, 10-4 to split the three-game series. Cornelio retired just one of seven batters faced, giving up six runs on four hits and two walks. Branden Boisserie drove in the first Wilmington run on a sacrifice fly while Max Romero connected for a three-run HR in the 8th to lead the Blue Rocks offense.

Lynchburg hung a five-spot in the scoreboard in the 1st and held off a late charge from Fredericksburg to take the finale, 7-5, and earn a series split. Travis Sthele was charged with six runs total over four innings to take the loss. Armando Cruz aqnd Phillip Glasser both doubled while Brandon Pimentel singled twice to the lead the FredNats attack.
Mitchell Parker replaces Amos Willingham, and will get the start tonight vs the Dodgers.
I must say, I didn’t see Parker’s promotion coming, but he’s definitely the most deserving. In general, I’m quite pleased with how Rizzo & co have handled promotions to date. They haven’t defaulted to AAAA retreads, but prioritized real prospects. It helps, though, that the prospects they’ve opted for (Lipscomb, Young, Parker, Willingham, etc, have all played very well in ST and early in the season.
Parker has an impossible task, debuting against the Dodgers. On the bright side, the Dodgers aren’t as good vs lefties, so that may be a small silver lining. I just hope he can rein in his control, because when that happens, he can be dominant. Good luck!
Pretty daunting debut, with Betts, Ohtani and Freeman the first 3 batters he faces. Talk murderers row!
I guess if you need a starter in Dodger Stadium you might as well pick one who imitates Kershaw. Good luck young man!
In other news, a second consecutive stinker from our SPs. Lord being the singular solid outing, which is doubly impressive as his AA debut. The less that’s said about Ward, Cornelio and Sthele’s outings the better…
Crews really seems to be a boom-or-bust kind of player. In 8 games, he’s got 9 hits, but 7 of them came in two games alone. Meanwhile, 4 of the games, he’s gone hitless. With that said, his bat is slowly heating up. His line is now at a solid .273/.333/.485. I’m happy to see he got his first SB of the season. Based on scouting reports, I’d expect to see those numbers increase as he gets on base more. To date, he’s only got 2 BB in 35 PA. That should rise too.
Likewise, it’s good to see Pinckney also pick up where he left off. His line now sits at an impressive .346/.370/.423. Looks like he likes batting lead off! And with Crews, House and Morales behind him, the guy should score a ton of runs.
Meanwhile, Phillips Glasser continues to hit. He’s almost 3.5 years above league average, and it’s showing. Hope we can see how he fares with a stiffer test soon. (The same could be said of Brandon Pimentel too, but as an UDFA and not a 10th rounder, I’d understand a less aggressive approach.)
Good grief, glad Rochester was able to hold ’em to a field goal on the last drive. Might have gotten ugly otherwise!
I have expressed my doubts about the pitching depth in the organization. Seems to be a legitimate concern.
Good to see big games from Crews and Pinckney. It’s still very early. Here’s hoping that they’ll start finding some regular rhythm.
If you have a subscription to The Athletic, here’s an interesting article on a group that has bought up a quarter of minor-league franchises, including Harrisburg:

why do I think this will not be the answer for a better MiLB experience?
