• Cate 1⅓ IP, 1H, 0R, 1BB, 1K
• Baker 2-4, 2B
• Wood 2-4, 2B, OF assist @ 2B

Three Rochester errors made two of the three St. Paul runs unearned but the point was moot as the Red Wings were unable to push across a run in a 3-0 shutout loss to the Saints. DJ Herz took the loss with one unearned run allowed on three hits and five walks. He struck out five. Darren Baker and James Wood both singled and doubled while Jackson Cluff singled twice to lead Rochester’s seven-hit parade. Roster moves: OF Stone Garrett recalled to Washington MLB rehab ended, oprtioned from Washingon; C Drew Millas optioned from Washington.

Erie 3 Harrisburg 2 (10 inn.)

The Senators lost a 2-1 lead in the 8th, then the game in the 10th – both on sacrfice flies. Cole Henry put in his three innings for the third straight appearance, allowing two hits, no runs, no walk, and striking out four. Harrisburg went 4-for-5 on the basepaths to convert three (3) singles into two runs, with Cortland Lawson and Yoyo Morales both going 1-for-4 with an RBI. Garvin Alston took the loss on a leadoff single and, after an intentional walk, a sac fly in the bottom of 10th. Roster moves: C Keibert Ruiz MLB Rehabe ended.

Wilmington 1 Brooklyn 0
• L. Young (W, 2-0) 6IP, 2H, 0R, 1BB, 5K
• Grissom (H, 4) 2IP, 1H, 0R, 0BB, 1K
• Peterson (SV, 6) 1IP, 1H, 0R, 0BB, 1K
• Thomas 1-4, R, SB(5)
• Lile 1-4, RBI, SB

Three Wilmington pitchers combined to shut out Brooklyn, 1-0, on four hits. Luke Young went the first six and gave up two hits and one walk while striking out five. Marquis Grissom allowed one hit over the next two for his fourth hold while Todd Peterson worked around a two-out double to notch his sixth save. The Blue Rocks broke up the Star Trek convention on The Ballpark on the Boardwalk scoreboard when Johnathan Thomas singled, stole second, took third on a balk, and trotted home on a Daylen Lile safety with one out in the 5th. Marcus Brown led the Wilmington hit column with two singles while Kevin Made rounded out the five-hit tally with a single to hit safely for the 15th time in 17 games.

Fredericksburg 2 Delmarva 0
• Atencio 5IP, 6H, 0R, 0BB, 5K
• Hall (W, 2-0) 2IP, 0H, 0R, 0BB, 2K
• Vasquez (SV, 1) 2IP, 2H, 0R, 0BB, 0K
• Baca 2-3, R
• Dugas 2-4

Three FredNats pitchers combined to shut out the Shorebirds, 2-0, on eight hits to extend Fredericksburg’s win streak to five . Jose Atencio went the first five, scattering six hits, walking none, and striking out five for his second straight no-decision. Bubba Hall got the “W” while retiring six of seven batters faced over two innings. The save went to Samuel Vasquez, who cordero’d around a one-out single and a two-out, ground-rule double in the 9th. Tyle Baca and Gaving Dugas both singled twice while Brandon Pimentel drove in the gamewinner on a sac fly in the 8th. Roster moves: RHP Travis Sykora reassigned from XST.

Editor’s note: Sykora’s callup was announced after yesterday’s media notes were released. While it’s still possible that Susana will make the start, more often than not, a player recalled usually appears immediately. See Harrisburg box score for what seems most likely.

    Impressive! 0 ER combined from all 4 starters (19 IP, 13 H, 6 BB, 19 K)

I don’t really understand what the plan is with Henry. They yanked him after cruising through 3 innings and only 37 pitches, when they let him struggle more last outing and threw 61 pitches. At the pace he was going, he could’ve made it 5 IP before hitting 60. But it seems they’ve elected to use a really unsophisticated 3 inning limit, rather than a pitch count, as Henry still has yet to throw in the 4th inning this season, while the pitch count has fluctuated in each of those starts. Not sure that’s a good way to build up his stamina…

Interesting about Garrett … looks like the Nats activated him post rehab session and then immediately optioned him to Rochester. Looks like he needs more time.

Very strange. Rehab assignments may last up to 20 days for batters (30 days for pitchers), so the Nats still had another week before they were forced to do anything, as Garrett was assigned to AA on April 13.

It looked pretty evident to me that Garrett could benefit from more time, as he was only hitting .226 through 9 games.

Odd way to burn an option on Garrett…

I love it when MLB edits transaction logs and backdates them!

12 pitchers on the combined 7 day and 60 day IL .
Should be interesting to see next spring how Bennett and Sullivan are .
Granted a draft pick in 10 slot first round doesn’t have to be a sure fire long season affiliate assigned prospect after signing but a lefty like the kid at Wake sure wouldn’t hurt the depth chart .
