Middle Infielders

Darren Baker   Darren Baker
Born: 2/11/99
Ht. 6′
Wt. 180
Bats: L
Throws: R
Career Stats
Baker has steadily climbed the ladder since being taken in the 10th Rd. of the 2021 Draft, which is more in line with the Nats’ fetish for legacies than his being Dusty’s son. Baker spent all of ’23 at AAA, save for eight games rehabbing in the FCL and Wilmington. Thirty-two games in LF suggests that he may being prepped for another Nats fancy: The utility guy.
Kevin Made   Kevin Made
Born: 9/10/02
Ht. 5’9″
Wt. 160
Bats: R
Throws: R
Career Stats
Picked up at the trade deadline last summer, Made struggled in his transtion to the Sally Lg., batting .137 and committing five errors in just 22 games. The bat has always lagged behind the glove, partly because Made had been rushed to High-A by age 19 after skipping both the DSL and AZL in the Chicago due to the pandemic and a logjam at the position.
Kevin Made   Marcus Brown
Born: 9/14/01
Ht. 6′
Wt. 187
Bats: R
Throws: R
Career Stats
Brown was the Nats’ 5th Rd. pick out of another favorite hunting ground: The Big 12. It’s hard not to think that Washington hopes Brown will return to the offensive form he showed as a freshman and sophomore (versus the relatively poor 2023), but the CW is that his defense is what they should count on instead.
Everett Cooper   Everett Cooper
Born: 7/31/03
Ht. 6’1″
Wt. 184
Bats: L
Throws: R
Career Stats
After struggling in ’22 in the FCL after being taken in the 16th Rd., Cooper found his footing in ’23 and slashed an impressive .373/.460/.400 in 23 FCL games. He played exclusively at 2B, which dovetails with what the scouts said in ’21: quick feet, moves best to his left, with some carry on his throws.
