Cory Abbott was knocked from the box in the 4th, charged with three runs on four hits and four walks while striking out two. Fred MD bird dog scouting review of pitching mechanics anticipated this morning .

tough to get a read on Leon as Delmarva has no CF camera plenty of viewing to be had tonight however.

I could see this as Rutledge’s last AAA audition. as cautious as they’ve been with their minor league arms Gore, Gray and Irvin are nearing that time

You think Skipper Delino is licking his chops thinking of J Thomas table setting a future squad of his Sens??

Pinckney and Morales are thriving at Wilmington while Crews is struggling mightily at Harrisburg. I guess you shouldn’t Rhinehart the #2 overall pick.

Meanwhile, the #5 overall pick from 2022 struck out three more times. Sigh.

On a much better note, House is hitting .296 at AA at age 20, which is impressive.

while concern is justified for Green’s future, I’m not concerned in the least on Crews. that plate discipline and bat speed is not a mirage.

        September 7, 2023 at 10:34 am

I agree on Crews. His plate discipline and consistent contact at LSU were phenomenal. He’ll be fine. But he’s really being tested right now, perhaps humbled a bit. Maybe that’s something the front office wanted?

Lack of power fom House is somewhat concerning. Does anyone know his defensive chops? Yohandy Morales shows more power potential as a 3rd baseman. Not sure of his defense.

        September 7, 2023 at 10:31 am

Keith Law still talks about a ball that House crushed in Wilmington. I don’t think anyone doubts the power will come. It just takes time. Wood is about nine months older than House and just came into his power this season.

        1. Mark L says:
          September 7, 2023 at 11:06 am

Law was talking a month ago about what an extreme pitcher’s park Wilmington is and he said only 2 hitters he’s seen make that park small; James Wood and Brady House.

        September 7, 2023 at 11:32 am

I have seen several fine plays from Morales. House always looked a little stiff but better at third. one of those things that will work themselves out

Thank You for the observation on the defensive “side”, sometimes we only focus on the offense.

Fred MD JR may get a call to Nats before curtain falls on MLB regular season .
I get tired just think about the intensity of Dylan Crews high leverage baseball played between NCAA championship long campaign and now pro ball adjustment with major ascension .

FredMD add a question mark to my statement to you about JR
119 IP even with numerous clunker starts of less than 5 IP or just the Subway special : $5 foot long .
On that note of young arms . I was so busy I didn’t notice Adons outing back the Mets . Good to see Adon getting even more Big Club time acclimated .

  5. LM says:

House has looked good at 3B. He’s got a really strong arm also.

Per Brittany Ghiroli in the Athletic, the Nats are blowing out their scouting department:

Special assistants Willie Fraser, Jeff Harris, John Mirabelli, Jon Weil, Mike Pagliarulo and Matt Ruebel, as well as pro scouts Jeff Harris and Greg Hunter, crosschecker Alan Marr, international scouts Mike Cadahia, Alex Rodriguez, Jose Pepe Ortega and David Leer are among the names The Athletic has confirmed were shown the door. The Washington Post first reported the four international names.

Johnny DiPuglia resigned over the weekend.

    1. James says:
      September 7, 2023 at 7:03 pm

      That makes me happy
Maybe we can get someone that can recognize pitchers

  7. Nick says:
    September 7, 2023 at 8:04 pm

I’m curious as to what actually happened with DiPuglia.

If there has been one saving grace in this terrible run of poor drafting and development it’s been the international signings.

I know even that has hit the skids lately but they’ve signed guys that were always considered near the top of their class, so I kinda think it has to do more with player development not doing its job than poor scouting by DiPuglia

I’m so curious who the next hire will be.

But the more important question is why Kris Kline is still the scouting director- he should have been let go a long time ago
