For the second time in three games, the Red Wings outslugged the Indians, winning 7-4 in extras. Daniel Mengden got the start and gave back a 3-0 lead with three runs allowed on three hits and a walk over three and a 1/3rd innings, though a dishonorable mention goes to Odalvi Javier for three walks and a balk while letting in both inherited runners while finishing the 4th.
Rochester got the run back in the top of the 5th on a bases-loaded, nobody-out double play and held the 4-3 lead until the bottom of the 9th when a twin-killing turned into a Little League HR with errors by Jeter Downs on the relay and Lindsly chasing down Downs’s errant throw and then Lindsly throwing it past third base. That hung a blown save on Junior Fernández and sent the game into extras.
Following a pair of ejections in the 10th, the Red Wings took care of business in the 11th as Derek Hill tripled in the free runner and Matt Adams launched his 17th HR to take a 7-4 lead. Orlando Ribalta picked up the win in his AAA debut with two scoreless inning, allowing an infield single and issuing two intentional walks.
Roster moves: RHPs Orlando Ribalta, Jack Sinclair reassigned from Harrisburg; LHP Tim Cate, RHP Alemao Hernandez placed on the you have the rest of the weekend off Development List.
Solid outings for our relief trio heading to Arizona. Jack Sinclair, in particular, I’m excited to see how he fares in the batter-friendly AFL. He’s shown a consistent ability to miss bats, and until his stint in AA had really good command. I hope he can rein this in a bit.
Unfortunately, the AFL trio was sandwiched between several guys who’ve been consistently awful all season with unsightly ERAs and even more unsightly underlying stats. I’m looking forward to next season when we won’t have to rely so heavily on guys that were already deemed not good enough and released by other teams, particularly in AAA.
Off beat question : Does Frankie Tostado factor in the 1 b / DH equation in the post Smith time frame awaiting TJ White ?
If all full season teams were still in season Rochester would be the only team playing with this weather.
No kidding autumn equinox weekend was a wet one .
Orgs always need those “ AAA suitcase joes “ to pitch in in a long season
THUD there goes the curtain down on the season
May the peanut gallery begin their Muppet old farts in the opry house nosebleed seats commentary lol
What rehab guys appear in AAA April 24
Pitching pitching pitching ..
Is it too early to start wishing that the coaching staff gets revamped ?
Daubach as hitting coach and Hanrahan as pitching coach ?
Then of course winter time priority : Harrisburg hitting coach .
