Fredericksburg vs. Delmarva – CNCLD
The rainout assured Fredericksburg of finishing no worse than .500 – one of just two affiliates (FCL Nationals) to not have a losing record in 2023.
Roster moves: RHP Riley Cornelio placed on 7-Day I.L.; LHP Gabriel Agostini recalled from the FCL.
It should be noted that Rico Garcia signed a 2 year contract. No idea how much he’s going to be paid pitching for Rochester.
enough to convince him to sign it, evidently. good move to lock him up, if he’s healthy he’s a valid piece
Am I missing something? Garcia has a 7.32 ERA in 30 major league games for 5 teams, and a 4.73 ERA in 50+ games in AAA. His performance to date isn’t even good enough to call him a AAAA player. And there’s no upside. He’s 29 years old. What you see if what you get.
We’ve signed and released at least 20 guys just like him this year alone. So what am I missing?
Oh, look. He’s another Tommy John reclamation project.
first of all ERA is probably the least important stat for a reliever. four other organizations saw fit to give him a shot. he’s left handed. a minor league contract is no risk at all. I know you probably didn’t miss any of this.
yesterday, you mentioned that Nats have used 41 pitchers in AAA. in actuality only one team in the eastern division of the IL has used less. that’s what teams do, try to catch lightening in a bottle.
Looks like you mixed up Odalvi Javier with the late Odalis Perez.
Also it should be Riley Cornelio.
I have the worst copyeditor…
House is at .311/.351/.459 at AA just three months after turning 20. Impressive. He seems the most certain of the major prospects to be up with the big club by mid-2024 or so. With Wood, the big decision will be what level of K% will they find acceptable to promote him. And there will be growing pains. For all the excitement about de la Cruz when the Reds brought him up, he’s striking out at a 34% clip and only contributing a wRC+ of 84. Wood is currently at 33.5% at AA.
Brady House is top three good stories of ’23, I’m pleasantly surprised at his success at the higher level
I agree. My hopes for him for this season were for him to get promoted to Wilmington and maybe be .280-respectable there. He’s showing why he was in 1/1 consideration in 2021.
A lot of five and sevens in pitchers lined lately.
The curtain coming down on the season
