Worcester was able to score twice in the top of the 10th without a hit and held on for a 6-5 win over Rochester. José Ureña gave up two solo HRs and four hits total over five innings while walking two and striking out eight. Jose Ferrer coughed up another two runs to the (ugh) Woo Sox to blow his second save while Jordan Weems took the loss with the “help” of a passed ball and two stolen bases in the 10th. Kevin Plawecki singled three times while Cody Wilson singled twice to lead the Rochester offense. Roster moves: OF Corey Dickerson assigned from Washington for MLB Rehab.
Harrisburg 3 Bowie 2
• Cuevas 6IP, 8H, 2R, 2ER, 1BB, 5K, PTV, PO @ 1B
• Schaller (W, 1-0) 1IP, 0H, 0R, 1BB, 1K, PTV
• Willingham (SV, 5) 1IP, 1H, 0R, 0BB, 1K
• Hassell 3-4, R, 2B, RBI
• Harris 1-3, BB, 2B, SB, OF assist @ HP
Frankie Tostado’s two-run HR in the 6th tied it while Robert Hassell delivered the game-winner with an RBI single in the 7th. Three relievers each turned in a scoreless inning, with Reid Schaller getting the win, Joel Peguero the hold, and Amos Willingham the save. Michael Cuevas notched his first quality start with two runs allowed on eight hits and a walk while striking out five. He was rewarded with a no-decision. Hassell led the Senators’ hit column with three singles while Trey Harris reached base twice with a double and a walk and threw out a runner at home plate. Roster moves: LHP Alemao Hernandez reassigned from Wilmington.
Wlimington 8 Brooklyn 7
• Luckham 6IP, 7H, 4R, 4ER, 0BB, 2K, HR
• Sinclair (BS, 2; W, 3-2) 1IP, 3H, 3R, 3ER, 0BB, 2K, HBP, WP
• De La Rosa 4-5, R, 2B(5), HR, 3RBI
• Emiliani 2-5, 2RBI
• McKenzie 1-5, R, HR, RBI
Wilmington blew a 6-4 lead in the top of the 9th and then extracted a win from its sigmoid colon with two runs with two outs for an 8-7 triumph. Kyle Luckham gave up the first four runs on seven hits (one HR) over six innings but did not issue a walk and struck out two. Jack Sinclair loaded the bases with nobody out on a hit batsman and two singles and nearly wriggled out of it with a whiff and a lineout (and a wild pitch in between) before giving up a two-run double. He would be the beneficiary of Jared McKenzie’s first HR and Jeremy De La Rosa’s fourth hit, which Leandro Emiliani and pinch-runner Nick Shumpert converted into the game-winner with the former driving in the latter with a single to RF.
Carolina 6 Fredericksburg 3
• Aldonis (L, 0-2) 4IP, 5H, 4R, 4ER, 3BB, 3K, 2BK, HBP
• Lord 3IP, 3H, 0R, 0BB, 2K
• Infante 2-4, 2B, 2RBI, SB
• Lawson 2-3, 2R, BB
The FredNats racked up 10 hits but could only convert three of them into runs as they were doubled up by the Mudcats, 6-3. Pablo Aldonis lost for the second time in five starts as he let in four runs on five hits and three walks over four innings. They got three scoreless innings from Brad Lord but Juan Abreu was not as adept, giving up two in the 8th. Sammy Infante drove in Cortland Lawson twice with a single in the 1st and a double in the 8th while Paul Witt singled and doubled to account for six of the ten Fredericksburg hits.
Tg for the consistency from House and Infante in Fred line up .
Bullpen outfor Senators today .
A Hernandez will bring his rubber arm to City Isle .
Humidity rising along with the taters being hit and some guys BA with multiple base knocks . Keep it going JDL
What type of splits will Ruwe do in Wil ?
Hassell III seems to have found his swing. All three hits (one was a 2B) were solid line drives. Average is up to .333.
Thanks LM. I was just going to ask how Hassell looks in person. He struggled during his rehab assignment but apparently is healthy now. Because of his injuries, we’ve really been waiting since the trade to see what we’ve got in him.
Speaking of the trade bounty, Wood now has four triples. He can really move on those long legs.
The biggest jump of all is from High A to AA. Always has been. You have to wonder how long the f.o. will keep Wood at Wilmington, he seems almost too good for High A.
Thanks LM.
Carter with his second day off in a row, hopefully only an abundance of caution
Aldonis committed two more balks, one cost him a run. that’s five on the season, no one else in the organization has two. I like this kid’s stuff, he should be getting better results.
Hassell’s rehab was basically his spring training, good to hear hit hit the ball hard yesterday
Fred Md silly question RE Aldonis
And all minor league pitchers
They’re all on a time clock too ??
he has a habit of shaking his glove while coming set, or not coming set as the case may be. the second one yesterday was on a pickoff move where he appeared to step toward the plate too much
